Cisco Systems ® announces the End-of-Life and End-of-Sale of the Cisco ® Sun Netra 1400/1405 servers for use with the PGW 2200 Softswitch and SC 2200 Signaling Controller. The last day to order the Sun Netra 1400/1405 through Cisco will be November 10, 2003. Table 1 describes the End-of-Life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco Sun Netra 1400/1405. This announcement only applies to customers that procure the Sun Netra 1400/1405 hardware platforms through Cisco and does not affect the availability of Cisco PGW 2200 or SC 2200 software.
Due to Sun's End-of-Life announcement of the Netra 1400/1405 and resulting Sun manufacturing and supplier issues with the memory and processors of the Sun 1400/1405, Cisco cannot guarantee the availability of these systems. Cisco has introduced the Sun Netra 20 as a replacement for the Netra 1400. The performance of Sun Netra 20 is equal to or greater than that of the Netra 1400. Any future orders or current quotes should be changed to the Netra 20 hardware platform.
Any new orders for the SC 2200 version 7.4.12 that require additional Sun hardware should be changed to the PGW version 9.3(2). Port expansion orders for the SC 2200 version 7.4.12 will still be honored through the lifecycle of the software.

End-of-Life Announcement Date

The date the document that announces the End-of-Sale and End-of-Life of a product is distributed to the general public.

End-of-Sale Date

The last date to order the product through Cisco point-of-sale mechanisms. The product is no longer for sale after this date.

Last Shipment Date

The last-possible ship date that can be requested of Cisco and/or its contract manufacturers. Actual ship date is dependent on lead-time.

End of Software Maintenance Releases Date

The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.

End of Routine Failure Analysis Date

The last possible date a routine failure analysis may be performed to determine the cause of product failure or defect.

End of New Service Attachment Date

For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.

End of Service Contract Renewal Date

The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product. The extension or renewal period cannot extend beyond the last date of support.

December 31, 2007

Last Date of Support

The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.

The recommended replacement for the Cisco Sun Netra 1400/1405 is the Sun Netra 20 (MGC-20-AC24-1, MGC-20-AC24-2, MGC-20-DC24-1, MGC-20-DC24-2).
