Bias-Free Language

Cisco announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco MDS 9000 2-Gbps Fibre Channel SFP Optics. The last day to order the affected product(s) is May 1, 2010. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in Table 1.

Product Migration Options
Customers are encouraged to migrate from the Cisco MDS 9000 2-Gbps Fibre Channel modules with 2-Gbps Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics to Cisco MDS 9000 4-Gbps and 8-Gbps Fibre Channel modules. Cisco MDS 9000 4-Gbps modules support 4-Gbps SFP optics. Cisco MDS 9000 8-Gbps Fibre Channel modules support both 4-Gbps SFP and 8-Gbps Enhanced SFP optics. Customers may purchase the Cisco MDS 9000 4-Gbps and 8-Gbps Fibre Channel Switching Modules and 4-Gbps SFP and 8-Gbps SFP+ optics from EMC Corporation, IBM Corporation, Hitachi Data Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Xiotech, Sun, Network Appliance, Dell, NEC, or Fujitsu, all of whom are designated original storage manufacturer (OSM) or solution technology integrator (STI) partners, or from any of these companies' resellers. Cisco does not offer trade-in credits or a trade-in program for Cisco MDS 9000 family products.
