Network Management : Disabling STP

Follow these steps to disable STP while maintaining a bridge link:

  1. Follow this link path to reach the Spanning Tree Setup page:
    • On the Summary Status page, click Setup.
    • On the Setup page, click Spanning Tree in the Association section near the top of the page.
  2. On the Spanning Tree Setup page, select yes for the Always unblock Ethernet when STP is disabled setting and click Apply.
  3. Select Disabled for the Spanning Tree Protocol setting and click Apply.
  4. Click your browser's Back button to return to the main Setup page and click Express Setup.
  5. On the Express Setup page, use the Role in Radio Network pull-down menu to select Repeater Access Point or Site Survey Client. If you want the bridge to accept associations from client devices, select Repeater Access Point. If you do not want the bridge to accept client associations, select Site Survey Client. The bridge maintains a bridge link with STP disabled in either of these roles.
  6. Click Apply. If a bridge loop occurs, the bridge automatically shuts down its Ethernet port to avoid disabling your network.

Note When STP is disabled and the Ethernet port is unblocked, the bridge appears as a workgroup bridge in the association tables of other Cisco Aironet access points and bridges.
