Cisco and Siemens Joint Solution OverviewIntelligent Packet Solution The @vantage IPS-3300 or Intelligent Packet Solution (IPS) is based on Cisco Mobile Service Exchange Framework (SEF) technology. This highly reliable platform brings capacity, efficiency, quality, and speed to next-generation mobile networks. And it lets mobile service providers charge for services, including post- and prepaid data services and content- and transaction-based services. The solution addresses the unique edge-network requirements of 2G and 3G mobile networks, such as integrated next-generation IP platforms, comprehensive IP and mobility features, and carrier-class products. IP MPLS Backbone The IP MPLS backbone solution is based on market-leading Cisco IP core products. Today mobile networks must manage increased amounts of data and multimedia traffic. New access and service solutions are all based on IP, making adoption of the IP MPLS backbone solution a logical next step. Siemens now offers Cisco high-end routing products as part of its mobile solutions portfolio. WiMAX IP Transportation WayMax, Siemens' WiMax solution, complements a service provider's existing network technologies for nomadic broadband data services and feeder applications. Siemens and Cisco worked together to define the network infrastructure of this comprehensive IP solution and are working on standards together in the WiMax Forum. This solution integrates Siemens' WayMax radio solution with Cisco IP transport infrastructure, as well as Siemens' IPS system for advanced billing and charging, which is based on Cisco Mobile Service Exchange Framework devices. Flash–OFDM Flash–OFDM (Fast Low-Latency Access with Seamless Handoff–Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) is a system-level technology that exploits the unique physical properties of OFDM. These properties provide significantly higher-layer advantages, which help increase the efficiency of packed data transmissions in cellular networks in rural areas. The key benefits are long reach, because of the availability of low frequencies; xDSL-comparable data rates; and low latency (less than 50 milliseconds). This solution was originally developed for IP multimedia. Public Wireless LAN Public Wireless LAN (PWLAN) technology can be a profitable addition to mobile service portfolios. Siemens and Cisco provide a comprehensive PWLAN solution that can easily be integrated into existing mobile data services. The PWLAN solution consists of Wireless Integration Platform (WIP) access points, access zone routers, switches, and the Cisco Service Selection Gateway to control customer access. This solution lets service providers use their relationships with mobile customers to gain greater market share. The following collateral is available for Siemens:
