O VTP reduz a administração em uma rede com switches. Quando você configura um VLAN novo em um servidor VTP, o VLAN é distribuído por meio de todos os switches no domínio. Instruções de Configuração de VTP

Esta seção fornece algumas diretrizes para a configuração do VTP na rede.

Todos os switches têm o mesmo nome de domínio do VTP, a menos que o projeto de rede insista em diferentes domínios de VTP.

Observação: a negociação de tronco não funciona em domínios VTP. Consulte a seção Tráfego de dados bloqueados entre os domínios de VTP de Solução de problemas do VTP (VLAN Trunk Protocol) para obter mais informações.
Todos os switches no mesmo domínio do VTP devem executar a mesma versão VTP.
Todos os switches em um domínio de VTP têm a mesma senha de VTP, se houver alguma.
Todos os switches de servidor VTP devem ter o mesmo número de revisão de configuração e também devem ser os mais altos do domínio.
Quando você move um modo VTP de um switch de Transparente para Servidor, as VLANs configuradas no switch VTP Transparente devem existir no switch Servidor.

Configuração de VTP em Switches Catalyst

Esta seção fornece alguns comandos básicos para configurar o VTP nos switches Catalyst mais usados.

Nota:Os switches Catalyst 2948G-L3 e Catalyst 4908G-L3 Camada 3 (L3) não suportam vários protocolos orientados por Camada 2 (L2) que são encontrados em outros switches Catalyst. Esses protocolos incluem VTP, DTP e PAgP (Port Aggregation Protocol).

Exemplo 1:

Este exemplo envolve dois switches Catalyst 4500 conectados por um link TenGigabitEthernet:

O Switch-A é um novo switch que não tem nome de domínio VTP nem VLAN. O Switch-C é um switch que existe atualmente e é executado com 16 VLANs no teste de domínio VTP.

Neste exemplo de saída do comando show vtp status, você pode ver que a versão do VTP é padronizada como 1. E o Switch-A tem capacidade para VTP V2. No entanto, o switch não executa o VTP v2 nesse caso. O switch só executará o VTP V2 se a versão V2 estiver configurada com o comando vtp version 2.
