Een belangrijke eigenschap binnen Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) is de logboekmogelijkheden. AsyncOS op ESA kan vele types van logboeken produceren, die variërende types van informatie registreren. Logbestanden bevatten de records van reguliere bewerkingen en uitzonderingen van verschillende componenten van het systeem. Deze informatie kan waardevol zijn bij het bewaken van Cisco ESA en bij het oplossen van problemen of het controleren van de prestaties.
Logbestanden kunnen worden geconfigureerd en gemaakt vanaf de CLI met behulp van de opdracht "logconfig" of via de GUI onder "Systeembeheer" > "Log abonnementen" > "Add Log Subscription ..."
