Release and General Information
This section contains general information about Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone and the current release of the application.
Introduction
Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone provides instant messaging (IM) and presence information to the Apple iPhone. Now you can stay connected while you're mobile. Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone provides the following features:
- Access your desktop Cisco Jabber contact list and take actions like:
- Start or join an instant Cisco WebEx meeting from an IM conversation
- Search for colleagues in the corporate directory
- Maintain security using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption and connecting your iPhone directly to the Cisco IM infrastructure through Cisco Unified Presence or Cisco WebEx Connect.
If your organization uses single sign-on (SSO) through Cisco WebEx Connect, you also have the following benefits:
- Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone maps to your SSO configuration in the Cisco WebEx Connect Administration Tool. This is the same functionality as the Cisco WebEx Connect desktop client.
- Federated Single Sign On uses the mobile device browser to access your corporate identity management system (IDMS) page.

VPN Support
Users connecting to a Cisco Unified Presence deployment outside of their network will have to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) application to connect and use Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone. Application users have two options:
- Cisco AnyConnect - Download the Cisco AnyConnect application from the App Store. Launch the AnyConnect application after installation and enter the required information.
- Native VPN - iOS provides native VPN support. Select to use this functionality and select IPSec. Enter the required information.
Consult with your network administrator to determine which of the two options should be used with your corporate deployment.

Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone 1.0.2 introduces the following features:
- Multiple resource login The application allows users to be logged into both desktop and mobile IM clients such as Cisco Jabber for Windows, Cisco Jabber for Mac and Cisco Jabber for iPad simultaneously using Cisco WebEx Connect or Cisco Unified Presence. If the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is used in the corporate network, only single resource login is supported.
- Cisco WebEx SSO meeting site support The application allows users to start an instant Cisco WebEx meeting with a SSO meeting site configured.

Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone 1.0.2 features have the following changes from previous releases:
- Cisco voice application name changes Cisco Mobile is now referred to as Cisco Jabber in Click to Call functionality.
- Presence changes The Away presence now displays as Busy and On the phone now displays as On a call.
- Multiple text input in the IM chats The chat text input field changes from a single line input to multiple lines in the chat window.

- Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone supports the following languages. The application will default to your current iOS system language. This can be changed in the application settings. If your language is not supported, the application will default to English.
