What's Changed in Cisco HCM-F, Release 12.5(1)

Change Description

Date

Cisco Smart Software Manager (CSSM) has introduced a new parameter to enhance the CSSM sync operations. Due to the enhancement, the HCM-F version 12.5(1) sync with the virtual accounts in CSSM is impacted. Hence, to avoid the sync issue, a cop file has to be installed for HCM-F 12.5(1) only.

What's New in Cisco HCM-F, Release 12.5(1)

The following are the new features and enhancements:

Certificate Management

Certificate Management enables you to manage many certificates for the UC Applications and Management Applications in Hosted Collaboration Solution. It also enables you to track, monitor, and send alert to the users about their certificate status. It allows the partners to save time in re-generation of certificates and manage the end to end workflows for CA signed certificates.

Smart Licensing

It's a Cisco initiative to move all the licenses to the cloud. The purpose of this initiative is to simplify the license management for HCS partners and enable them to adopt Cisco’s cloud-based license management system. Smart Licensing helps in overcoming most of the limitations with the traditional PAK-based licenses. Most of the Cisco products including routing, switching, security, collaboration, and so on, support smart licensing.

Smart Licensing helps simplify three core functions:

  • Purchasing: The software that you have installed in your network can automatically self-register themselves, without Product Activation Keys (PAKs).

  • Management: You can automatically track activations against your license entitlements.

  • Reporting: Through the portal, Smart Licensing offers an integrated view of the licenses you have purchased and already deployed in your network. You can use this data to make better purchase decisions based on your consumption.

You can convert Classic, PAK-based licenses (PLM licenses) to a Smart Entitlement (if a Smart License equivalent is available). The license conversion can be performed in the License Registration Portal (LRP) or in Cisco Smart Software Manager (CSSM). For more information on converting classic licenses to smart licenses, see Migrating classic licenses to smart licenses with active SWSS in Cisco Smart Software Licensing with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 12.0 Solution Overview.

HCMF provides the following functionality for licenses management:

  • Manage all the clusters and licenses at one place.

  • Simplified lifecycle management of UC clusters.

  • Easy migration of clusters from PLM to CSSM.

  • Consolidated reports of both PLM (11.x clusters) and Smart Licensing (12.x clusters).

  • Cluster Management (Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Emergency Responder)

    • VA assignment

    • VA un-assignment

  • Sync and communicate after the CSSM integration:

    • CSSM communication

    • Sync smart and virtual account details

  • Reports license availability and consumption on system, per customer, per subscriber and per device basis.

HCM-F Sync with Virtual Accounts in CSSM

Cisco Smart Software Manager (CSSM) has introduced a new parameter to enhance the CSSM sync operations. The Cisco HCM-F 12.5(1) Smart Licensing feature is impacted because of this enhancement. Therefore, we recommend you to either upgrade to Cisco HCM-F 12.5(1) SU1 or install the cop file hcs.CSCvt05846-1-1251patch.cop.sgn for HCM-F 12.5(1). There is no impact if you are already running Cisco HCM-F 12.5(1) SU1 version.

For more information about the cop file and the installation procedure, see https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286323074/type/284970166/%20release/12.5.1.

Version Report

The Version Report feature provides details on number of UC and Expressway clusters, UC application and Expressway type, and versions. You can generate this report at provider, customer, and cluster-level. The reports are generated as Summary and Detailed reports that service providers can use for their reporting, upgrade planning, and inventory.

For more information on Version Report, see Cisco Hosted Collaboration Mediation Fulfillment Install and Configure Guide .

Limitations in Cisco HCM-F, Release 12.5(1)

The following lists the limitations in Cisco HCM-F:

  • In HCMF, if Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence Service cluster is added as CUCM subscriber and when either Self Signed or CA Signed certificate is regenerated or uploaded, the Cisco DRF Master service does not get restarted automatically. Whereas, Cisco DRF Local service restarts.

Workaround: Restart Cisco DRF Master service manually on the publisher node of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence Service. To manually restart the services, run the following command:

utils service restart Cisco DRF Master

  • In HCMF, regeneration or upload job for Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence Service 10.5 xmpp and xmpp s2s certificate fails.

Workaround: Restart the Cisco XCP Router service manually on the Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence node. To manually restart the services, run the following command:

utils service restart Cisco XCP Router
