This document describes the features, system requirements, and open caveats for the Cisco Smart+Connected Digital Signage (Smart+Connected DS), Software Release 2.1. Use this document in conjunction with the documents listed in the "Related Documentation" section.
Introduction
The Smart+Connected DS application allows you to create, edit, and delete the content that appears on the digital signage. The end user can access news and other general information from the signage display. In times of emergency, the notifications on digital signage and IP phones that are configured as part of Emergency Notification can be life saving.
In addition, the configuration of Green Advisor enables the digital signage display to provide tips and facts about better resource management and energy savings. This can lead to reduced energy bills and more environment friendly corporate practices.
The Smart+Connected DS solution includes the following solutions that leverage digital signage:
•Cisco Smart+Connected Emergency Notifications (Smart+Connected EN)—Complements existing emergency alerting and evacuation systems by displaying the notifications and exit routes on the digital signage in times of an emergency. Also sends audio and text notifications on the IP phones during a crisis.
•Cisco Smart+Connected Information Signage (Smart+Connected IS)—displays the general information and news on the digital signage and allows you to create, sequence, and publish the information displayed on the digital signage.
•Cisco Smart+Connected Green Advisor (Smart+Connected GA)—enables you to gather information such as energy consumption data, display energy saving tips and also helps in comparing current and historical energy consumption data.
As an administrator, you have to manage the overall configuration, maintenance, and content creation for the Smart+Connected DS solution through a web portal. You have to add locations and devices, create users, and associate devices to locations for the solution in the SDP. For more information on performing these tasks, see the Cisco Service Delivery Platform User Guide and Cisco Service Delivery Platform Installation Guide. After the locations are added, and the devices are associated to them in the SDP, they are available in the Smart+Connected DS portal.
