The Remote Access Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) is a mechanism used to regulate access to a computer network by users. The RADIUS server checks passwords entered by users and either grants or denies access based upon the password given. For example, a public wireless (Wi-Fi) network is installed on a university campus. Everyone cannot use these networks, only those students to whom the university has given a password can access the network.
This article explains how to connect to the RADIUS server on the WAP551 and WAP561 Access Points.
• WAP551
• WAP561
• v1.0.4.2
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose System Security > RADIUS Server. The RADIUS Server page opens:
Step 2. Click the IPv4 or IPv6 radio button as per the IP address type of the RADIUS server.
Step 3. Enter the IP addresses of the RADIUS server to be used in the Server IP Address-1 field. This is the IP address of the RADIUS server to which the user tries to connect in order to authenticate and get access to the WAP.
Step 4. Enter the password key for the Server IPv6 Address-1 in the Key 1 field. This is the key that is shared between the WAP and the RADIUS server and should match the key configured on the RADIUS server.
Step 5. (Optional) You can configure additional servers and enter their respective keys if you want.
Step 6. (Optional) If you want the RADIUS server to log information about individual dial-in connections, check the Enable check box in the RADIUS Accounting field.
Step 7. Click Save.
