Enable CDP on SPA300 and SPA500 Series IP Phones
The Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) allows directly connected Cisco devices to share information with each other. This allows any device connected to the network to see what devices the other devices are connected to. This feature is used in the IP phone as an emergency service; the location of the phone can be determined by the switch port that it is connected to.
This document explains how to enable the CDP on the SPA 300 and 500 series.
• SPA 300 IP phone series • SPA 500 IP phone series
Step 1. Press the Setup icon.
Step 2. Navigate to Settings and press Select using the soft-key.
Step 3. Navigate to Network Configuration and press Select using the soft-key.
Step 4. Navigate to Enable CDP — Note: Press **# to unlock or lock certain edit options on the phone.
Step 5. Press Edit to change the status of CDP.
Step 6. Press Y/N to toggle between Yes and No to enable or disable the CDP.
