Cisco TelePresence System MXP Series Software contains the following vulnerabilities:
- Three SIP denial of service vulnerabilities
- Three H.225 denial of service vulnerabilities
Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow an attacker to cause system instability and the affected system to reload.
Cisco has released software updates that address these vulnerabilities. There are no workarounds that mitigate these vulnerabilities. This advisory is available at the following link:
Note: This security advisory does not provide information about the OpenSSL TLS Heartbeat Read Overrun Vulnerability identified by CVE-2014-0160 (also known as Heartbleed). Multiple SIP Denial of Service Vulnerabilities
Multiple vulnerabilities in the SIP code of Cisco TelePresence System MXP Series Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the affected system to become unresponsive and reload.
These vulnerabilities are due to improper handling of crafted or malformed SIP packets. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted packets to the affected system.
These vulnerabilities can be triggered by SIP messages sent via UDP or TCP. Messages sent via Transport Layer Security (TLS) will also be affected. The default ports for UDP and TCP deployments are UDP port 5060 and TCP port 5060. The default port for TLS deployment is TCP port 5061.
These vulnerabilities are documented in Cisco bug IDs CSCty45739 (registered customers only), CSCty45733 (registered customers only), and CSCty45720 (registered customers only)
The following Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) IDs have been assigned: CVE-2014-2156, CVE-2014-2157, and CVE-2014-2158.
Multiple H.225 Denial of Service Vulnerabilities
Multiple vulnerabilities in the H.225 code of Cisco TelePresence System MXP Series Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the affected system to become unresponsive and reload.
These vulnerabilities are due to improper handling of crafted or malformed SIP packets. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted packets to the affected system. These vulnerabilities are documented in Cisco bug IDs CSCtq78722 (registered customers only), CSCty45745 (registered customers only), and CSCty45731 (registered customers only)
The following CVE IDs have been assigned: CVE-2014-2159, CVE-2014-2160, and CVE-2014-2161.

When considering software upgrades, customers are advised to consult the Cisco Security Advisories, Responses, and Notices archive at http://www.cisco.com/go/psirt and review subsequent advisories to determine exposure and a complete upgrade solution.
In all cases, customers should ensure that the devices to be upgraded contain sufficient memory and confirm that current hardware and software configurations will continue to be supported properly by the new release. If the information is not clear, customers are advised to contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) or their contracted maintenance providers.
All the vulnerabilities described in this security advisory are fixed in Cisco TelePresence System MXP Series Software version F9.3.1 and later.
-
The Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) is not aware of any public announcements or malicious use of the vulnerabilities that are described in this advisory.
These vulnerabilities were found during the resolution of support cases or during internal tests.
