Security Outcomes for Zero Trust

The Cisco Security Outcomes study reports on how organizations achieve outcomes using zero trust security.

Zero trust adoption is on the rise. In fact, more than 86% of respondents in a recent survey shared that their organizations have already begun moving to zero trust. The downside is that only 2% have achieved maturity across zero trust pillars.

So, what does maturity really mean when it comes to use cases and technologies? Which of these are the most impactful toward achieving zero trust outcomes? Our latest report uncovers key takeaways to help you chart the right course to zero trust in your own organization.

Some of these takeaways include:

  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) remains the strongest control when it comes to stopping an attack and reducing the likelihood of an incident.
  • Use of automation and orchestration had the biggest impact on whether organizations saw zero trust as being in place.
  • Organizations completing all zero trust pillars are two times less likely to report incidents—from 66% to 33%.
  • Organizations completing the Identity pillar are nearly 11% less likely to have a ransomware event compared to organizations with no progress on that pillar.
  • Teams that complete the Device pillar are 21% more likely to claim success in tracking key systems and data.
