IoT Operations Dashboard

Overview

Organizations are digitizing their environments faster than ever before, to gain insights and better control their processes for uptime, quality, and safety. However, their operational networks may not be ready to handle the amount of data that digitization produces or the new cybersecurity threats it might expose them to.

In order to reap the full benefits of their digitization efforts, organizations must enhance their networks with greater visibility, more comprehensive security, and improved reliability to improve efficiency, protect industrial assets, and help ensure business continuity.

IoT Operations Dashboard

Cisco® IoT Operations Dashboard is a cloud platform designed to enable operations teams to securely connect, maintain, and gain insights from connected industrial assets at massive scale. With one cloud-based dashboard to deploy and configure services, operations teams can manage connectivity and uncover valuable insights that help them streamline operations and drive efficiency.

IoT Operations Dashboard provides a range of value-added services that enable operations teams to manage connectivity and gain insights from connected assets without the need for deep networking expertise.

Edge Device Manager

The industrial router service is delivered through Edge Device Manager (EDM) and is a core service in IoT Operations Dashboard that provides configuration, deployment, and monitoring of supported Cisco industrial routers. The EDM service provides operations teams increased visibility into everything on the network, plus the ability to manage access and perform troubleshooting, eliminating the need to go out to a site to provision a device manually, which takes time and could lead to errors. In addition, this service enables teams to easily configure and manage secure connectivity for industrial assets using Cisco industrial networking devices, including the Cisco Catalyst IR1100 and IR1800 Rugged Series Routers.

Edge Device Manager (EDM) is easy to use, scalable, and offers the following benefits:

Fast, accurate setup of industrial IoT networks: Simple configuration tools with plug-and-play, zero-touch deployment, and configuration templates to enable operations teams to easily deploy and configure industrial routers and gateways at scale, in compliance with IT policies.

Centralized deployment and monitoring of connectivity for your Cisco industrial routers and gateways and connected industrial assets.

Fewer truck rolls and enhanced reliability by allowing operations teams to monitor devices remotely.

EDM provides a solution that simply and securely connects mobile and remote assets. Although EDM is well suited for a variety of different use cases, it is most effective when deploying assets in the following scenarios:

Mass transit: Passenger counting and surveillance aid in promoting passenger and driver safety, while location reporting helps ensure that arrival and departure times are accurate.

Roadways and intersections: Avoid unplanned downtime and promote the overall safety of roadside workers and drivers with simplified management for operations teams and improved visibility into the network and connected assets, as well as secure connectivity for roadside devices.

Machine builder: Connected machines provide real-time data and with the ability to service and maintain the machine remotely, organizations can reduce downtime, increase efficiency, and improve overall plantwide optimization.
