Ever-more sophisticated technologies support the imperatives of speed, flexibility, and collaboration among customers, partners, and workforces where definitions blur and boundaries are permeable. The combination of virtualization and lack of comprehensive industry frameworks for management increases the urgency of focusing on complexity through the network lifecycle. In this session, we will discuss new management technologies (e.g., embedded instrumentation, analytics, diagnostics, and mediation platforms) and processes that systematically reduce the risks and costs associated with complexity. We will review how attention to complexity is spurring enormous attention, investment, and innovation in the industry at large. We will also discuss what Cisco is doing to encourage industry involvement.
