ePLDT is the information and communications technology company (ICT) of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT). A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Philippines' dominant telco, it is the principal corporate vehicle for the PLDT Group's ICT assets and investments.

ePLDT offers a whole range of ICT services necessary for the sustainable growth of Information Technology in the Philippines. One of its services is Wireless Networking called BLiNK™. It is the first publicly deployed wireless high-speed Internet service in the country. BLiNK is a part of the Cisco Mobile Office initiative and runs on the wireless local area network (wLAN) standard, more commonly known as the Wi-Fi 802.11b. BLiNK™ uses Cisco's WLAN equipment and is also the first Cisco Mobile Office deployment in the Philippines.

Also a productivity tool, BLiNK™ wireless Internet service enables the mobile workforce to accomplish important tasks, projects and research even while on the road with the help of the Internet. This ensures that not a minute is wasted and workflow is not hindered by travel or location changes.

Worldwide networking leader Cisco Systems provides the wireless LAN equipment for BLiNK. The Aironet 350 Series wireless LAN (WLAN) enables BLiNK to offer internet access, without the need for telephone wires, in restaurants, coffee shops, universities and campuses, hotels and airport lounges. With a Cisco Client Card available for rent in any BLiNK hotspot, customers can have Internet access outside their offices.

BLiNK is secured by VeriSign SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption and mutual authentication with a RADIUS server. VeriSign provides the SSL encryption, a standard web browser tool that manages the security of transmissions in the Internet by converting data into a form not recognizable by unauthorized users.
