Howard Charney

Howard Charney

Senior Vice President, Office of the President and CEO, Cisco

Senior Vice President Howard Charney is a member of Cisco's Office of the President and Executive Staff. He contributes to Cisco's strategy and direction, and advises businesses, governments, and educators around the world on implementing critical Internet technologies to improve productivity and competitiveness.

During more than 30 years in Silicon Valley, Charney has overseen the development and proliferation of key technologies that led directly to the global build-out of the Internet. After joining Cisco with the acquisition of Grand Junction Networks, he helped grow Cisco's new two-tier distribution business to more than US$2.4 billion and, with Cisco's brand and market momentum, helped turn Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching into fundamental, global Internet technologies.

Previously, Charney founded Grand Junction Networks in 1992. Grand Junction invented Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching, which transformed the economics of switching. In 1980 Charney co-founded 3Com, the progenitor of Ethernet and local area networking. 3Com's breakthrough technologies enabled Internet access to the desktop.

A licensed patent attorney, Charney belongs to the State Bar of California and the Federal Bar. He sits on the boards of several technology companies and on the advisory board for the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and master's of business administration and juris doctor degrees from Santa Clara University.

Duncan is responsible for Cisco's business throughout the 84 countries in our Emerging Markets Theatre, which encompasses the Middle East, Africa and Russia; a multibillion dollar operation.

Duncan joined Cisco in the UK in 1996 and held the role of UK Managing Director for 7 years. He then ran the Emerging Markets East Super Region between FY08 - FY11, before assuming leadership of the Emerging Theatre at the beginning of Fiscal Year 2012.

He has a strong personal interest in Cisco's Corporate Social Responsibility programs and is currently a member of the company's Inclusion and Diversity Council, as well as Executive Sponsor of the Energy Advisory Board.

In 2008, Duncan awarded a CBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, for services to business.

Wayne Hull is Cisco Systems' International Director and the General Manager for the UAE. In his role, he is responsible for all Cisco Systems' business across the UAE. His primary responsibilities include: Cisco's country mandate, strategic account leadership, small and medium business generation, channel management, business operations and people management. He has a personal interest in sharing the transformational impact of communication technologies to the region's political and business leaders, and positioning Cisco to be a partner across the UAE to deliver on the vision of a connected nation.

Wayne's previous roles were across the Gulf and Pakistan operations, with the largest country for Cisco being The State of Qatar. He was responsible for the Cisco and Qatar Science and Technology commitment through the agreement signed in Qatar between Cisco's Chairman and CEO, Mr John Chambers and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Qatar Foundation.

Wayne joined Cisco in 2004. As a General Manager, he has built Cisco country businesses growing at a CG of 40% over 3 years. He has achieved the following Cisco recognition: 2009 General Manager Best Practice for Emerging Markets; 2009 Emerging Markets Consulting Services Contract of the Year; 2007 Middle East and Africa Country Manager of the Year and 2006 Gulf Leadership Excellence.

Wayne's previous experiences include 6 years at Accenture across business consulting and system integration, and 4 years at IBM across business consulting and Server Hardware. He reached the positions of Senior Executive at Accenture and Global Executive for IBM.

Throughout Wayne's career, he has focused on government interventions and board level customer relationships. He has worked across South and Central Africa, UK, Middle East and Pakistan. He has an Honours degree from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Wayne is an active Rotarian through the Jumeirah Rotary Club.

Wayne is married and they have 2 daughters. He has residency in UAE.

Den Sullivan

Head of Architectures and Enterprise, Emerging Markets, Cisco

Den is responsible for helping customers in 84 countries align their business priorities with their IT strategies. His role is to demonstrate how an architectural approach to IT can help businesses thrive in a world where people want to share rich media with anyone, anywhere, on any device, at any time - securely, reliably, and seamlessly.
Prior to his role as Head of Architectures and Enterprise for Emerging Markets, he was CIO for a sales region that spanned Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
Under his leadership, the IT Group made significant investment to support tremendous growth in the region. This meant transforming the organisation's foundational infrastructure while providing a portfolio of new capabilities such as Telepresence, and additional video and collaboration technologies.
Den joined Cisco, and the IT Architecture Group, in 2000. He was responsible for several large-scale advanced technology programmes including the initial portfolio of Virtual Private Networks, Wireless and IP Telephony services. In 2003 he managed the transition of the European, Middle East and Africa WAN to a Multicast MPLS network, the first of its kind globally.
Prior to joining Cisco, Den held a number of management positions in utilities, public sector and consulting. He has an MBA from London Business School.
Den lives in Dubai with his young family and has run the London Marathon on ten occasions.

As the Collaboration Sales Manager for UAE, Wael is responsible for Cisco's Collaboration and Business-Video Strategy, Sales and Channel Business Development.

Wael joined Cisco in 2006 initially as a Business Development Manager for Unified Communications and Contact Center for the Gulf region. During his career at Cisco, Wael has led the sales development of many of Cisco's Unified Communications and Wireless products including TelePresence, Unified Messaging, Contact Centre, MeetingPlace and Webex (voice, video, and data conferencing), IP Video conferencing, Telephony and Wireless Telephony. Wael has also led the Unified Communication business development for various verticals including Healthcare, Aviation, Education, Oil & Gas, Defence and Hospitality.

Wael is a key player in developing the Services Provider business for Unified Communications Applications, Hosted/Managed Telephony, Hosted/Managed TelePresence and Hosted/Managed Contact Center. He has held many seminars and events for various SPs in the Gulf region addressing Managed Services.

Wael started his career as an Software Engineer for Lucent Technologies in 1996 where he managed the software development and implementation of Contact Centers for outsourcers in Europe and the Middle East. He graduated from the Technical University of Budapest as a Software Engineer. His hobbies include squash and swimming. Wael lives in Dubai with his wife and two boys.

Collaboration Marketing Director, EMEA

Tim heads Cisco's Collaboration Marketing for EMEA and in this role, he is responsible for the business planning of Cisco's EMEA Collaboration Marketing strategy, directing the marketing campaigns, and working closely with the media and industry analyst communities.

Tim has lead the development and execution of go-to-market strategies for a variety of converged communications solutions and recently launched Cisco's new Collaboration solutions in Europe including Unified Communications, Cloud, Telepresence and Social Software.

Tim has over 25 years experience in the industry and has held a number of marketing management positions focusing on PBX and call centres. Topics of particular interest include convergence, the business value of collaboration applications, mobility, social software, TelePresence, and contact centre technology.

Ahmed Etman

Emerging Markets Cisco Systems

Ahmed Etman is the Borderless Networks lead for Emerging Markets, responsible for business development and product sales. The Borderless Networks architecture comprises of Routing, Switching, Security, Mobility and WAN Acceleration technologies.

Ahmed joined Cisco in 2006 as a Business Development Manager for security technologies, part of the Central Security team responsible for EMEA. Since then, Ahmed has managed various businesses in Cisco include Advanced Technologies as well as various Emerging Technologies businesses.

Ahmed comes from a strong security background, as before joining Cisco, he held various positions at Internet Security Systems (now part of IBM), where he served as Technical Manager as well as being responsible for setting up the ISS operations in the Middle East and Africa region.


Charles Aunger

Charles manages the Architecture & Engineering Services division of ETS and is responsible for all technology infrastructure execution within Mubadala. In his previous position at Microsoft Press, he worked with Microsoft Directors to co-author a guidebook for businesses on upgrading to Windows 2003. He has more than 18 years of global experience in the delivery of leading technology solutions, with an expertise in the integration of enterprise systems, infrastructure and data centers. Charles has been recognized as a leading international technical professional by international datacenter company Citrix, one of only 29 in the world and has completed award-winning work on the design of a wide area network (WAN) solution for 3i Investment Company.

Jeroen Sourbron

Sr. Manager, Business Development for Collaboration Worldwide Channels.

Jeroen Sourbron has 6+ years of extensive experience in Cisco's Collaboration portfolio, as Business Development Manager, first at European level and for the past 18 months at worldwide level. In his role, he defines the strategy of how to bring our solutions to the customers, based on assessment of customer profile and market needs, and aligning this with an eco-system of channel partners, technology partners, service providers and strategic partners.

Currently he is driving the adoption of Virtual eXperience Infrastructure (VXI) as Cisco's first cross-architecture solution where Virtual Desktop, Voice and Video are being unified.

During his 12 years at Cisco, he played various roles from Sales to Project and Program Management, both at local and regional level. Based out of the Bedfont Lakes, Cisco UK office.

Maher al-Shishani is a technology consultant works at SAP MENA as solutions presales for the NetWeaver Technology Platform and Sybase Enterprise Mobility.

Maher Joined SAP MENA in 2008. In his current role, Maher provides technical expertise to support the sales team and SAP customers, conducts business and system requirements studies, and demonstrates SAP's unique ability to add value to customer's business.

As before joining SAP MENA, Maher worked for CCS Jordan and Oracle Systems where his jobs included systems analysis, sales support, and technology consulting, among others.

Mark is responsible for Cisco's Data Center Sales and Channel Business Development in the UAE. He re-joined Cisco in 2010 as part the Data Center Architecture team tasked with introducing Cisco's Unified Computing System to the Emerging Markets theatre.

Mark has extensive experience in IT automation, virtualization, and cloud services, gained as a founding member of BladeLogic team in EMEA, which after a successful IPO in 2007, was acquired by BMC software in 2008. Prior to re-joining Cisco Mark worked for Vodafone UK as part of the team responsible for creating demand for Vodafone's cloud based services for application mobility, secure remote access, and unified communications.

He is passionate about the value that Cisco is able to deliver in the data center, and his key focus is to help clients take advantage of data center initiatives such as server consolidation, virtualization and IT process automation, in the shift in IT towards the Cloud.

Mark lives in Dubai with his wife and three daughters.

With more than 16 years of communications networking & IT experience, Osama Rasoul is currently the Sales Manager for Borderless Networks Architectures.

Osama is responsible for Cisco's foundational Routing & Switching, Security, Mobility and Acceleration technologies Business Development and Product Sales across the UAE, driving an end-to-end architecture for borderless network services - EnergyWise, TrustSec, Motion, Application Velocity, and media optimized network

Osama's vast career spans across Product Sales, Engineering, Pre-Sales and Management functions at major networking and telecommunication companies in the region, and he comes with a strong technical background and long history of successful accomplishments

He joined Cisco in 2006 and since then, he holds many positions, Osama previously led the Systems Engineering team for Qatar, Oman, UAE, & the Channel team,

Paulo Pereira

Paulo leads the Systems Engineering team in the UAE. He re-joined Cisco in 2005 as part of the Service Provider Systems Engineering team and has since then taken responsibility of the other segments of the business.

He has initially joined Cisco in 1999 and worked across different countries from Europe to the Middle East during his career at Cisco. During this time Paulo has covered multiple roles, from pre-sales to implementation and has lately settled on management of a high performance team of Systems Engineers.

Paulo has spent most of his career working in the service provide segment where he accumulated extensive experience around core technologies such as routing and mpls. He's passionate about the Internet and all the technologies that enables it.

For the last 7 years Paulo has been living in the UAE with his wife and two kids which were both born in the UAE.
