Cisco

Duncan Mitchell is responsible for Cisco's business operations throughout the 84 countries in its Emerging Theatre, a multi-billion dollar operation that encompasses the Middle East, Africa, Russia, and Turkey. He is also a member of Cisco's Emerging Countries Council.

Cisco's vision for the Emerging Theatre is to lead emerging country innovation, prosperity, sustainability, and social inclusion through life-changing, intelligent networks.

Previously at Cisco, Mitchell ran the Emerging Markets East Super Region for four years. Before that he served as UK Managing Director for seven years. He joined Cisco in 1996.

Mitchell has a strong interest in Cisco's Corporate Social Responsibility programs and is currently a member of the company's Inclusion and Diversity Council, as well as Executive Sponsor of the Energy Advisory Board.

In 2008, Mitchell was awarded a CBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for services to business in the United Kingdom.

Frank Palumbo

As Senior Vice President of Global Data Center/Virtualization Sales at Cisco, Frank Palumbo is responsible for growing the company´s unified fabric data center architecture sales while helping customers achieve positive business outcomes through Cisco´s data center products and services. Cisco´s unified fabric data center product portfolio includes servers, security, switches, management and automation, storage networking, virtual networking and application networking.

Palumbo has been with Cisco sales for more than 20 years. Over the past five years he has been instrumental in creating Cisco´s data center business, and growing it into the market leader it is today. Under Palumbo´s leadership, Cisco has rapidly become a market leader in x86 blade server sales, amassing an ever-expanding installed base of over 30,000 unique customers, including 75% of the Fortune 500. He also serves on Cisco´s Data Center and Virtualization Board.

Previously, Palumbo led the Americas Data Center/Virtualization sales team, which only two years after the introduction of Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) was able to capture the number two market position for x86 blade servers in the United States. He also successfully launched the Cisco Nexus product line in the Americas.

In a previous role at Cisco, he headed up the sales efforts in the storage area network marketplace where he was responsible for building the team and creating its processes. Prior to that effort, Palumbo led teams in New York and New Jersey with responsibility for key vertical market sales including healthcare, pharmaceutical, finance, insurance, media, utilities, transportation, and the public sector.

Earlier in his career Palumbo was employed for eight years by Wang Laboratories in a number of sales and marketing roles. He holds a degree in business administration from Rutgers University.

Den Sullivan

Den is responsible for helping customers in 84 countries align their business priorities with their IT strategies. His role is to demonstrate how an architectural approach to IT can help businesses thrive in a world where people want to share rich media with anyone, anywhere, on any device, at any time -securely, reliably, and seamlessly.

Prior to his role as Head of Architectures and Enterprise for Emerging Markets, he was CIO for a sales region that spanned Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Under his leadership, the IT Group made significant investment to support tremendous growth in the region. This meant transforming the organisation's foundational infrastructure while providing a portfolio of new capabilities such as Telepresence, and additional video and collaboration technologies.

Den joined Cisco, and the IT Architecture Group, in 2000. He was responsible for several large-scale advanced technology programmes including the initial portfolio of Virtual Private Networks, Wireless and IP Telephony services. In 2003 he managed the transition of the European, Middle East and Africa WAN to a Multicast MPLS network, the first of its kind globally.

Prior to joining Cisco, Den held a number of management positions in utilities, public sector and consulting. Den lives in Dubai with his young family and has run the London Marathon on ten occasions.

Dr. Tarig Enaya is the Managing Director for Cisco in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia having previously served as Public Sector Operations Director and Public Sector Regional Sales Manager for Cisco.

As Managing Director, Cisco KSA, Dr. Enaya is responsible for Cisco’s business operations, leading emerging country innovation, prosperity and sustainability throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Tarig joined Cisco in 2006 as Public Sector Regional Sales Manager responsible for growing all of Cisco Public Sector lines of business including products, services, managed services and advanced technologies. He successfully managed key Executive and CXO relationships to help the e-transformation of the Government of Saudi Arabia and setting the ICT Government agenda.

Throughout his career with Cisco, Dr. Tarig has led cross functional teams to win major national mega transformational programs throughout the Kingdom, setting the ICT national agenda. In addition to successfully solving national business problems with innovative IT solutions, Dr. Enaya has led mentored and coached the next generation of Cisco KSA managers and directors.

Prior to his career with Cisco, Dr. Tarig worked as an advisor for the Saudi Ministry of Health (MoH) on the e-Health initiative where he received awards by Cisco Systems and Intel Corporation for his significant contributions to the modernization of the national e-Health systems in the Kingdom.

Dr. Tarig holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida, USA. He has acquired more than 12 years’ experience in the IT and Communications industry, becoming a seasoned professional, leading teams and managing many successful ICT projects across the Kingdom.

Mazen Abou Najm

Mazen Abou Najm

Mazen Abou Najm is a Data Center Consulting Systems Engineer for the Service Provider, Enterprise, and Commercial customers in Saudi Arabia. He leads solution design and presales activities for Data Center Networking, Storage, Unified Computing System (UCS), Virtualization and Cloud based major projects.

Mazen joined Cisco in 2010 as a Proof of Concepts Engineer in San Jose, and then worked as a Systems Engineer for major service provider accounts in Saudi Arabia.

Mazen is a regular speaker at local Cisco and channel partner events. His areas of interest include Software Defined Networking, Cloud Computing, High Performance Computing, and Application and Storage design.

Mazen holds a Bachelor of Computer and Communications Engineering degree and a minor in Economics from the American University of Beirut.

Fahad is working with Cisco Advanced Services as a Solutions Architect and Technical Lead and he has a decade of experience in information security and networking. He holds M.Sc. in Management Information System from King Saud University, Riyadh and he is certified with double CCIEs (Security and Routing & Switching), CISSP, CEH, TOGAF and ITIL.

Fahad´s area of expertise encompasses security architecture assessments, on-going deep optimization services, identity management, and applied confidentiality, integrity and availability for complex security solutions. Fahad worked in major projects for customers in Saudi and outside Saudi.



Bader Alotaibi

Bader has been with Cisco for over 7 years and has played a major role in designing some of the largest WiFi deployments in the region. He covers the Middle East with expertise on working with different industries (e.g. education, healthcare, oil & gas, service provider). While his main area of expertise is Wireless, Bader is also a part of the Enterprise Network team in EMEA working with Security and R&S teams. Along with his main duty of helping customers and partners design wireless networks, he takes the responsibility of bridging the channel of communication between the field and Cisco's Wireless Business Unit which may influence future product developments.

He has more than 13 years of industry experience working across various verticals in Saudi Arabia.

Mohammed has led the Cisco efforts to fully localize Cisco's IP Phones by working closely with the field and the business unit.

Mohammed holds a bachelor´s degree in Electrical Engineering as well as a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.

Majed Alwineyan

Majed Alwineyan is an Oregon State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Majed joined Cisco in 2007 in Amsterdam as part of the Cisco Sales Program. In 2008 he joined the Cisco Technical Assistance Center in San Jose, California as a Support Engineer, where he worked on solving network issues for large companies including Microsoft, Apple, Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, and others. In 2009, Majed joined Cisco's team in Saudi Arabia as a local Support Engineer providing technical support to STC, Zain, Mobily, Tadawul, and SABIC where he was labeled as Cisco's "showman". Majed holds his CCIE in Routing and Switching, and is a VMWare Certified Professional(VCP). Currently Majed is working as a Senior Systems Engineer for the Ministry of Interior and has more than seven years of extensive experience in networking. He has received several distinguished honors for his sales and team effort on a local and regional level.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and Masters in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), in Chicago, IL USA.

Osama joined Cisco in 2001 as Systems Engineer in Chicago, IL USA. He has vast years of experience in the area of Information Technology, supported by industry and Cisco certifications, Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).

Amer Atout is a product manager for the Cisco Catalyst 6800 and 6500 Series Switches. He is responsible for promoting the next-generation supervisor module and fixed aggregation platforms.

Previously, Amer was a customer escalation engineer for the Cisco Catalyst Access platforms, where he led in the resolution of escalated issues on Cisco Catalyst 4000, 3000, and 2000 products; increased customer satisfaction; and improved product quality.

Amer holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the University of Jordan, Amman.

Paul only very recently joined Cisco from IBM where for the last 2 years he ran the Security Services Practice for the Middle East and Africa. In this role he lead the creation of a very strong consulting practice with particular focus on SOC and Governance, Risk and Compliance Programmes. He also drove significant growth in its Managed Security Services business.

Paul was with IBM for 15 years where he worked in various roles from Consulting on large Transformational Programmes through to Security Services Delivery Management on both the operations and Governance sides.

Yasser Helmy

Yasser joined Cisco in 2005 during the creation of the Connected Real Estate team in the Arabian Gulf Region. Since then, he has been a key member of the worldwide "Smart+Connected" initiative at Cisco starting in the Gulf Region, then the Emerging Markets Theatre, then the EMEAR Geo. As part of the Smart+Connected Communities Business Development team, he has actively led S+CC sales engagements in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. In his current role he leads the Go-To-Market for Smart+Connected Communities in the UK, Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Prior to Cisco, Yasser has held a variety of management, sales, presales, and engineering roles with several multinational companies including Hewlett-Packard, Fastlane, and SITA. He holds a B.Sc degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications from Cairo University. Having lived in many countries, including 12 years in Dubai, he is now based in Munich, Germany.

David Hovey

With over 14 years of industry experience, David's focus on end-to-end 3GPP and related non-3GPP mobile architectures has helped drive innovation and competitive advantage throughout the industry. David brings specialist expertise in Cisco’s emerging technologies and how they contribute to the global Mobile industry.

David engages directly with leading mobile operators, in-country Cisco teams and Cisco partners. He is a regular public speaker on matters related to the evolution of mobile technology and architecture, business change and the evolving role of mobility in today’s Global Mobile market.

He also contributed to Cisco’s innovation during this period, and is a US patent holder. David has an Honours Degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from the University of Bath, UK and is based in France. He previously held various roles for a major mobile service provider in the United Kingdom.



Muhammad Imam

Muhammad currently works as a Technical Marketing Engineer for Catalyst 3850. Muhammad joined Cisco in 2008 and has more than 12 years of experience in the networking industry. Currently he focuses on Catalyst Switches more specifically Access Switching Platforms like Catalyst 4500, Catalyst 3850/3650 and others. He also contributes Enterprise Network design and Converged Access Architecture. In the past he has held roles in Development, Test and Support of different products ranging from Routers, Switches, Firewalls, etc.

Muhammad holds a Masters degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering. He also maintains a CCIE #27739 in Routing and Switching.

Moustafa Kattan is a Distinguished Systems Engineer with multinational experience with Cisco in North America & MEA and is currently a member of the EMEAR Emerging SP team.

Throughout his career at Cisco, Moustafa has been instrumental in the design of large scale country transformational IP + Optical networks and has designed complex communications solutions for Service Providers as well as Public Sector and Enterprise organizations.

Moustafa is a thought leader in DWDM, Converged IP + Optical solutions, Data Centers & MPLS-TP. He contributed to multiple IETF drafts/standards and has a number of related patents. He is a frequent and sought after speaker at Cisco Live in the US & EMEAR, Cisco Expo events, IEEE and MENOG. Moustafa speaks three languages and holds a B.Sc. and MBA.

Kadir  Kaya

Kadir has a Computer Engineering degree from Bogazici University, Istanbul. He has 20 years of international work experience with 8 years in North America. Besides Sales, he also has worked for several companies as a Senior Infrastructure Architect responsible for enterprise infrastructure, networking, security, systems maintenance and server management. Before joining Cisco, Kadir was working for Microsoft and responsible for Microsoft Business Productivity Platform Sales and Business Development.

Hassan Khan

Hassan has more than 14 years of experience in the areas of wireless network strategy and development while interfacing with key operators in the region.

He has worked with operators like Etisalat (Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, UAE), Qtel (Ooredoo) Group and Opcos, Zain Group and Opcos, STC, Orascom (Mobilink) and Telenor in various fields.

He is currently working as Product Sales Manager for Mobility Architectures covering Middle East and Africa.

He is responsible for positioning and sales of the best suitable Cisco Mobility solutions for mobile service providers in the region. Prior to Cisco, he worked in different consulting, sales and technical roles with Nokia Siemens Networks, Aircom International and Zain Saudi Arabia.

Hassan holds a Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Pakistan and an MBA from Manchester Business School.

Uwe Lambrette

Uwe Lambrette is a Director in Cisco Services and leads the EMEAR Center of Excellence for Data Center and Cloud. As such, he is responsible to provide the Cisco Services expertise at quality and scale concerning DC and Cloud for EMEAR and is involved in all major related projects and developments.

Before Uwe worked in Cisco Consulting Services, concentrating on the area of Cloud, Datacenter and NGN Transformation. He also covered market research and has published some thought leadership on cloud as below. Prior to focusing on cloud, Uwe advised SPs on outsourcing business models and how Cisco could position in this field.

In his earlier career, Uwe was a Principal in the Telecommunications practice at Booz & Co. With a broad NGN and technology transformation experience and one of Booz Allen's named experts in the field, he has worked extensively with the executive management of many leading telecom operators in Europe, Emerging Markets, and worldwide to evolve and improve SP business strategy, NGN and mobile technology architecture, SP operating model and cost performance.

Uwe holds PhD (Distinction) and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering from Aachen University in Germany, and completed additional engineering studies at University of Stuttgart and London Imperial College.

Debbie Mayfield

As the leader of the Partner Ecsosystem field team for the EMEAR theater, Debbie leads a group of individuals committed to providing consultative services to partners to help them achieve the most profitable results by capitalizing on Cisco's software offerings. Debbie's group is chartered with making sure Cisco customers and partners have the expertise available to them to maximize their service offerings by taking advantage of new software and service solutions offered from Cisco.

Debbie joined Cisco in 1999 as a systems engineer for the service provider line of business. She has since held a variety of positions at Cisco to include Systems Engineering Manager, Channel Account Manager, and Manager of Channel Operations for the Verizon Account, Product Account Manager, Client Services Manager, and Regional services manager for the UAE.

Prior to joining Cisco, Debbie worked at a successful start up for a number of years named ISIS 2000 out of Tucson Arizona. She came to ISIS 2000 from the MITRE Corporation where she started her career as a computer programmer.

Debbie is an active member of the Cisco Connected Women's Group which advocates helping women to have successful careers at Cisco. In her spare time she enjoys running and spending time with her family.

Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona.

Apollinaire Moreno

Based in Dubai (UAE), Apollinaire runs a team of Consulting Systems Engineers that cover the Collaboration technologies in Africa, the Middle East and Russia. These CSEs advise Cisco's customers and partners on innovative and business-transforming Collaboration solutions, using Cisco's extended offering that ranges from Unified Communications to Contact Centers, and includes Conferencing, Telepresence and Video solutions, all of which can be offered on premise or via cloud.

Apollinaire joined Cisco to run the Telepresence and Video CSE team following the Tandberg acquisition, and he has a solid experience in Communications Technologies, after 11 years at Nortel and 8 years with Schlumberger's ATE division. He also holds a Masters in Telecommunications from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Jens Mortensen

For more than 15 years, Jens Mortensen has been focused on Public Sector's usage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across the world.

In his current capacity as Director for Public Sector, EMEAR* he leads Cisco's Sales Business Development for Central Government and Healthcare.

In this role Jens acts as the lead in the development of Cisco's business- and sales initiatives focusing on Central Government and Healthcare which can meet the increasing needs arising within and around the Public Sector markets in EMEAR.

Jens is an experienced speaker and presenter on Public Sector ICT trends, eGovernment and the specific challenges within the Public Sector's usage of technology.

He later on joined Sourcefire (which is now part of Cisco) as a Regional Security Engineer for Middle East and Africa with a focus on Next Generation Intrusion Prevention Systems, Next Generation Firewalls and Advanced Malware Protection. He is currently working for Cisco Systems as a Consulting Systems Engineer for Emerging Market.

Rene Raeber is a Distinguished Engineer in the Central Consulting Team, working on the Theater level for the Emerging Markets region at Cisco. This region covers more than 130 countries in Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia/CIS, the Middle East and Africa. The Emerging Markets region represents a $4 billion business for Cisco.

Rene's function covers Datacenter Strategic Accounts and Key Project support in the Commercial, Enterprise, Public Sector and Service Provider market segments. In addition, Rene is responsible for a gateway function towards the Datacenter Business Unit divisions, in order to ensure that Cisco's customer requirements are represented and fulfilled in product development.

His span of responsibility also covers internal field engineering education, partner technical readiness and representation of Cisco's Datacenter technologies in key marketing initiatives; technical seminars, press and thought leadership writing datacenter publications.

Additionally, Rene is an official and voting IEEE member, actively representing Cisco, and develops new Datacenter standards, such as IEEE-802.1BR (Virtual Bridge port Extension). Rene is one out of 10 Cisco Datacenter Patent reviewer. Rene is one of the Key Datacenter Architects in Cisco, having been recognized for excellence awards on several occasions.

Rene has more than 24 years experience in the Datacenter and telecommunications industry. He joined Cisco more than fifteen years ago coming from a Financial Customer environment, where he was responsible for the IBM Mainframe SNA and Storage Business. He was also responsible for some of the very first SNA over TCP/IP implementations within the Enterprise environments.

Rene did study IT Engineering, and owns a Masters Degree in Business IT Security from HSW University in Lucerne. He is a Security Auditor for BS7799-2, ISO 17799 Information Security.

He also has very sound technical background in RS and DC technologies and has most recently worked as a Technical Marketing Engineer for Cisco Nexus 7000 series of products.

Syed has been with Cisco for more than 10 years, which also includes experience in Cisco AS and the Cisco TAC. His experience ranges from reactive technical support to proactive engineering, design, optimization, pre-sales, product management & marketing etc. He holds CCIE (Routing & Switching), CCDP, Cisco Data Center Specialization, and TOGAF (v9) certifications and is a regular speaker at Cisco Live conferences and customer workshops and seminars worldwide.

Jan Van de Laer brings over 16 years of experience in engineering, sales and marketing to his role of Senior Manager of Worldwide Mobility Field Operations at Cisco Systems.

Prior to joining this team, Jan was leading the Global Sales enablement team for NMTG and was part of the team responsible for the Cisco Prime messaging that brought Cisco Management back, which is now a crucial part of Cisco´s Unified access.

Jan started his career in the wireless business since 1998 as a design engineer at Aironet, at that time owned by Telxon Corporation. Jan stayed at Telxon after Cisco acquired Aironet, and then Telxon got acquired by Symbol Technologies, at Symbol he was involved in enabling the "wireless switch concept, AKA split mac architecture". Also, at Symbol Jan grow from Software Engineer into a CSE II for WLAN. Motorola came into the picture when they acquired Symbol Technologies. At Motorola Jan was leading the EMEA Wireless Sales Enablement and GTM Team, and moved into a Global Solution Directors role, was part of the product decision board and finally ended up as Managing Director for Motorola BENELUX. Before Joining Cisco, Jan served for a short period of time as Aruba Networks´ EMEA CTO, where he defined Aruba´s retail GTM strategy.

Mahmoud Soubra currently is the Country Enterprise Market Development Manager at Intel Corporation in charge of managing the relationship with Multi National Companies.

He began his career in 1989 at IBM in Canada, and after two year of marketing training and roles, he was promoted to handle the French speaking part of IBMs ´Direct Response Marketing Centre (Contact Center).

In 1995, he joined ´Investcom´, a Lebanon based, global Telecom tycoon, which has built and operates GSM networks in over 14 countries. His role at Investcom was to establish a Data Services company and an Internet Service Provider company. DataNet was the first ISP to operate commercially in Lebanon. DataNet has later on merged with DataSat.

In 1998, Mahmoud has joined Alfaisaliah Group in Saudi Arabia. AFG is a major diversified enterprise, operating across the Middle East. Through dedicated subsidiaries and in partnership with leading international companies, AFG holds a dominant position in several key regional prime growth sectors. Mahmoud handled the ISP and eBusiness sector in AFG, as the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.

In summer 2005, Mahmoud Joined Intel Corporation as the Telecom Sector Business Development Manager for the Gulf Council Countries.
