Senior Vice President, Emerging Theatre
Duncan Mitchell is responsible for Cisco’s business operations throughout the 84 countries in its Emerging Theatre, a multi-billion dollar operation that encompasses the Middle East, Africa, Russia, and Turkey. He is also a member of Cisco’s Emerging Countries Council.
Cisco’s vision for the Emerging Theatre is to lead emerging country innovation, prosperity, sustainability, and social inclusion through life-changing, intelligent networks.
Previously at Cisco, Mitchell ran the Emerging Markets East Super Region for four years. Before that he served as UK Managing Director for seven years. He joined Cisco in 1996.
Mitchell has a strong interest in Cisco’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs and is currently a member of the company’s Inclusion and Diversity Council, as well as Executive Sponsor of the Energy Advisory Board.
In 2008, Mitchell was awarded a CBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for services to business in the United Kingdom.
Senior Vice President, Office of the President
Senior Vice President Howard Charney is a member of Cisco’s Office of the President and Executive Staff and reports directly to CEO John Chambers. He contributes to Cisco’s strategy and direction and advises customers on implementing critical Internet technologies to improve productivity and competitiveness. He is the company’s Executive Sponsor for the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
During more than 30 years in Silicon Valley, Charney has overseen the development and proliferation of key technologies that led directly to the global build-out of the Internet. After joining Cisco with the acquisition of Grand Junction Networks, he helped grow Cisco’s new two-tier distribution business to more than US$2.4 billion and, with Cisco’s brand and market momentum, helped turn Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching into fundamental, global Internet technologies.
Previously, Charney founded Grand Junction Networks in 1992. Grand Junction invented Fast Ethernet and lowcost switching, which transformed the economics of switching. In 1980 Charney cofounded 3Com, the progenitor of Ethernet and local area networking. 3Com’s breakthrough technologies enabled Internet access to the desktop.
A licensed patent attorney, Charney belongs to the State Bar of California and the Federal Bar. He sits on the boards of several technology companies and on the advisory board for the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and master’s of business administration and juris doctor degrees from Santa Clara University.

Rabih Dabboussi, Managing Director, leads the Strategic Service-Providers Business in Cisco’s Emerging Theater.
Rabih joined Cisco in 1996 as a software engineer in RTP, NC. He worked in the Internetworking Operating System (IOS) development area on Cisco’s core routing platforms for six years, before spending a further six years in a worldwide customer-facing and consultancy role in the Service-Provider Technology Group’s Mobile Business Unit. Rabih has a very strong consultancy and architecture background focused on mobile products and technologies to accelerate the adoption of IP technologies and mobile. Rabih led a consultancy team that helped grow Cisco’s mobile business worldwide, introducing numerous new products and technologies as the mobile world embraced IP and the internet.
Along his journey, Rabih has achieved US technology patents that have helped differentiate Cisco’s products and solutions, whilst living and working in the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Technical Operations, EMEAR.
Ian Kennedy leads the Systems Engineering organisation at Cisco Systems for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia (EMEAR) region.
Ian and his team are focused on developing ICT solutions leveraging the impact of the network as a platform for business transformation across multiple vertical sectors and building architectural blueprints for the delivery of advanced network-based services into these sectors.
Ian spends time communicating Cisco's technology vision and strategy, and the associated business benefits to industry consultants, analysts and the media. Most recently, this includes discussing the future impact of the Internet of Things, the industrialization of the Internet and the emergence of cloud-based services which can take advantage of the global scale of IP networks and the public Internet.
Having joined Cisco in 1998 as a consulting engineer, he subsequently became a Distinguished Systems Engineer for his work on global network architectures within the Financial Services sector.
His career now spans 35 years, designing and managing the implementation of ICT solutions across corporate networks in a wide range of industry sectors, including petro-chemical, retail, financial services and the Public Sector.
Ian is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Patron of the UK charity RECLAIM which works with disadvantaged young people. He is also Chair of Sharp Futures, a social enterprise focused on job creation for young people and is on the Operational Board of the Centre of Excellence for Business Growth, Trade & Inward Investment in the North West region of the UK. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered IT Practitioner, a Member of the IET, BCS & IEEE, and is a BCS Certified IS Consultant. He holds a First Class BSc Honours degree from the Open University.

Abdelrahman is a solution architect for strategic service providers in emerging markets, he spends more than 10 years in Telcom and SP industry evolution both in Wireline and Mobile space, and is working with customers into their transition to the next generation SP architecture in the middles east, Europe and Africa.
Abdelrahman focus includes mapping SPs business challenges and capturing Telco market transitions into new architecture and technologies.
He has technical experience in IP/MPLS architectures and applications, Transport/Optical, Mobile architecture (3GPP/IMS) 2G/3G/4G infrastructure.
Regional Business Development Director for MENA
Andy Nehme is Intel Corporation’s Regional Business Development Director for Middle East and North Africa. He has been working in the Middle East for the last fifteen years with many large enterprise and government accounts on their ICT strategy and directions. Andy currently leads Intel’s business development efforts thru a team of highly experienced professionals who function as trusted advisors and technology experts to bring Intel’s Digital Transformation efforts to the region.

Den is responsible for helping customers in 84 countries align their business priorities with their IT strategies. His role is to demonstrate how an architectural approach to IT can help businesses thrive in a world where people want to share rich media with anyone, anywhere, on any device, at any time - securely, reliably, and seamlessly.
Prior to his role as Head of Architectures and Enterprise for Emerging Markets, he was CIO for a sales region that spanned Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
Under his leadership, the IT Group made significant investment to support tremendous growth in the region. This meant transforming the organisation’s foundational infrastructure while providing a portfolio of new capabilities such as Telepresence, and additional video and collaboration technologies.
Den joined Cisco, and the IT Architecture Group, in 2000. He was responsible for several large-scale advanced technology programmes including the initial portfolio of Virtual Private Networks, Wireless and IP Telephony services. In 2003 he managed the transition of the European, Middle East and Africa WAN to a Multicast MPLS network, the first of its kind globally.
Prior to joining Cisco, Den held a number of management positions in utilities, public sector and consulting.
Den lives in Dubai with his young family and has run the London Marathon on ten occasions.
Public Sector Education EMEA – Cisco Systems.
Since October 2007 Anwer Kotob has been working in a team of Public Sector and Education specialists within Cisco Systems working with the region's education authorities and other government agencies on education transformation initiatives and the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) to impact the national social and economic development. With primary focus on the K-12 and vocational education sectors, Anwer has also led projects in higher education and shared services within government agencies.
In the ten-year period between Oct. 1997 and Oct. 2007, Anwer has served in various consulting and managerial capacities within Cisco Systems focusing primarily on Systems Engineering Management and Technical & Solution Architectures in support of service providers and major deployments.
Prior to joining Cisco, Anwer held various technical managerial positions including, the Service Delivery Manager at Omnes (a Schlumberger- Cable&Wireless company focused on network integration and ISP services to Telcos, ISPs and the Oil Industry), and before that he was Director of Networking Services at Telematics. Anwer achieved CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) status in 1994 while working for Telematics.
Anwer holds a master's degree in Computer Science and another master's degree in Civil Engineering both from North Carolina State University.

Hania is Cisco’s Regional lead for the Education Vertical responsible for Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Russia. Based in Dubai, Hania has been working for Cisco for the past six years. She has been focusing on Public Sector for the past 4 years, advising Ministries and departments of Education as well as local governments on their ICT strategies and assisting them in formulating a vision and an ICT roadmap to address innovation and economic sustainability.
Prior to joining Cisco, Hania was a Senior Consultant at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young where she focused on Strategy, and operational Efficiency for the Manufacturing and Financial sectors
Hania has over 20 years of multi-national diversified experience and has worked in a wide range of countries: Turkmenistan, South Africa, Jordan, Hungary, UAE, France and Mexico. Ivan is has overall responsibility for development and execution of Cisco’s switching sales strategy for the EMEAR and leads the Sales and Business Development activities to enhance customers productivity, profitability and lower costs through better use of intelligent network.
Ivan joined Cisco 14 years ago and has a diverse background of both domestic and international sales experience, holding various leadership positions leading operations in Cisco Ireland, In these roles Ivan was responsible for building strategic sales strategies and also served as a key spokesperson to influence the media and government on the importance of technology to drive innovation and economic growth. He also led the Architecture and Solutions team in EMEAR, where he was responsible for delivering customer & Partner success through Transformative Networking (created by his team) and customer relevant solutions propositions.
With more than 25 years’ experience in the data communications industry, Ivan has worked for both local and global telecommunications organisations. Before joining Cisco, Ivan worked with Alcatel for six years and previous to that with a reseller in the telecommunications sector for five years.

Firas Abras leads IT across Emerging Theater at Cisco. Prior to his current role, he lead the Cisco TelePresence Global Deployment Organization which delivered the world's largest install-base of high-definition TelePresence and video conferencing in human history. Before joining Cisco, Firas worked at Deloitte Consulting, Dell, SAIC and Keane on Management Consulting, Virtualization, Transformational Infrastructure, communication &collaboraion, and Mergers& Acquisition. He is an alumni of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles School of Engineering. His passions include evangelizing the role of technology and multi-national companies around The Great Digital Divide initiative and the next generation workforce opportunities in the Middle East and Africa.

With a fifteen year track record in the Information Technology Industry, James Spearman comes with a solid technology infrastructure background.
After completing his studies in Informations Systems (with French), from Staffordshire University, James started his career focused on predominantly server infrastructure. With a view of total solution management, James continued to include middleware and system support in his portfolio.
After several years of focusing on technology infrastructure solutions, James joined the world of digital media and undertook ownership of the create team, product development and technology architecture. With client experience improvement as a main driver, James moved to adopting virtualization technologies until he finally joined Dimension Data UAE as a solutions architect for both virtualization and cloud.

Michael J. Koons

Mr. Michael Koons is the Vice President of Technology and Systems Engineering for the Global Systems Engineering organization for Cisco Systems. He is responsible for the field engineering and technology strategy for all the architectures within Cisco. In these technology areas, Mike focuses on strategy, network architecture, product placement and engineering. Mike is responsible for building the bridge between Cisco’s technology solutions and our customers’ business imperatives while ensuring the SE community is influential throughout this business process.
Michael has 23 years of networking and telecommunications experience. He started his career within the Bell System working for Bell Atlantic in various engineering and operational roles. He joined Cisco in 1996 as a systems engineer and has worked in several technical and leadership roles while supporting many different market segments in the field sales group. He previously served as the technology lead for Global Segments and Architectures (GSA) where his primary function was to align the SE organization around Engineering, Architectures and our technical strategy.
Michael has been active in several industry groups including USTA, ATIS and others. He has served on the ATIS Technology Council as the representative for Cisco focusing on common industry issues such as Network Optimization, Cloud Applications for Service Providers and CDN Federations. Michael and his family reside in Parker, Colorado.
Data Center Sales Manager, UAE.
Mark is responsible for Cisco's Data Center Sales and Channel Business Development in the UAE. He re-joined Cisco in 2010 as part the Data Center Architecture team tasked with introducing Cisco's Unified Computing System to the Emerging Markets theatre.
Mark has extensive experience in IT automation, virtualization, and cloud services, gained as a founding member of BladeLogic team in EMEA, which after a successful IPO in 2007, was acquired by BMC software in 2008. Prior to re-joining Cisco Mark worked for Vodafone UK as part of the team responsible for creating demand for Vodafone's cloud based services for application mobility, secure remote access, and unified communications.
He is passionate about the value that Cisco is able to deliver in the data center, and his key focus is to help clients take advantage of data center initiatives such as server consolidation, virtualization and IT process automation, in the shift in IT towards the Cloud.
Mark lives in Dubai with his wife and three daughters.
Collaboration Systems Engineer
Based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Khamis is Collaboration Consultant Systems engineer for Cisco in UAE , As Specialized on Telepresence and video my role involved working alongside sales, services and R&D to help shape the fulfillment channel and to act in sales engagements as a key product specialist.
Mohammed Swidan is the Director of Sales for Vision Valley looking after the entire sales operation in Vision Valley.
Mohammed Swidan started his career in Cisco as a sales account manager, he spent few years looking after different territories in the gulf region.
Swidan spent a few years with Cisco selling and advising different client base on the Cisco end to end solution. He then joined TANDBERG to be focused on the Video & Telepresence technology and its role in the industry.
Post the Cisco acquisition of TANDBERG, Mohammed became part of the Telepresence and Video Business Unit advising and consulting clients on how Video and Telepresence can transform their day to day operation.
BT Contact director, Middle East and North Africa, BT Global Services
Mahmood has a wealth of experience in the contact centre industry, having worked in it for the past 12 years. He started his career as Solution Designer at Adastral Park, BT’s central research hub in Ipswich, UK, followed by different roles within BT.
His experience stretches from business development to consultancy, design and delivery of multi-site contact centre solutions for large strategic customers from a variety of sectors, including finance, government, health, retail, travel and aviation. Mahmood has in-depth knowledge of technologies used in contact centre industry, including Avaya, Aspect, Cisco, Genesys, Verint, Nice, and Symon.
In his current role as BT Contact director for the Middle East and North Africa region, Mahmood works with large strategic customers and partners in determining the business value of BT’s Contact Centre solutions, helping them develop their road maps and strategy to enhance customer experience.

Mr. Ozgur Danisman has more than 15 years of experience in IT, with a specific focus on information security more than 10 years. Having completed his double major in Computer and Electronics Engineering, he joined Turkish GSM operator Turkcell. He then continued his career at Vodafone Net fulfilling the roles of Information Security Manager, and Managed Security Services Manager. He later worked at Check Point Software Technologies as Regional Sales Consultant. He is now working as Security Sales Manager at Cisco responsible for Middle East region. Ozgur also has security certifications like CISSP, CISA, and CSM, and is a welcomed speaker in well known security summits.
Advisor, Threat Intelligence
Paul is Advisor to the threat intelligence team. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer (CSO) he advises on a broad range of security matters, and specialises in advanced threats. Paul carries out research into the detection of sophisticated targeted attacks, especially using big data analysis techniques. This work also covers insider threats. He works very closely with commercial organizations, especially within the financial and government sectors.
In his current role Paul also represents Cisco in various UK Government departments such as the Home Office and Law Enforcement Agencies. Paul represents Cisco on the UK's Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure’s (CPNI) Information Exchanges where he is currently the chairman of one Information Exchange.

Joined Cisco April 2006 as System Engineer for the Service Provider team in South Africa with focus on Mobile Operators. Recently relocated to Dubai as a Consulting Systems Architect focusing on Fixed and Mobile operator requirements and driving cross architecture adoption.

Scott joined Cisco in September 2010 as Regional Manager for Emerging Markets, following a year long tenure managing joint sales opportunities between BMC Software and Cisco across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Since moving to Cisco Scott has been focused on selling the Cisco Data Center Business Advantage proposition across all verticals in Europe and the Middle East, and currently manages a team of Data Center Product Sales Specialist, covering KSA, Middle East and Turkey.
Scott has over 15 years of experience in Information Technology. His technology background includes Data Center management, middleware and application technologies.
Ted has been with Cisco for 5 years and has been focussed on Aviation for Cisco during this period.
Ted is a qualified Communications engineer having held positions in Defence, Railways, Satellite and Specialist Communications manufacturers. Roles have included Engineering Management, Project Management, Product Management and Sales and Marketing as well as Business Development.
Technologies with which Ted has been involved have ranged from HF and PMR radio through to specialised Command and Control systems used in Public safety and aviation, Satellite and traditional digital communications and of course Cisco’s vast range of networking and collaboration technologies.
Recent projects that Ted has been involved have included Collaborative Innovation rooms for EADS Airbus, Interactive kiosks for BAA, Warehouse of the Future for Logistics Companies and the Next generation of In Flight entertainment and Cabin Communications for Airbus.
Victor Bishay, Collaboration Consultant – UAE
Victor is the technical lead for Cisco’s Collaboration Architecture Portfolio in the UAE. In this role he is responsible for helping customers align their business needs with customized solutions that help them drive productivity and impact their day to day operations. Victor has been instrumental in supporting some of the largest enterprise and service provider environments in the region, helping them deliver the next generation workplace for their end users. In doing so Victor has garnered a strong reputation in the industry as a trusted advisor supporting Cisco’s customers, partners and account teams on Cisco’s unified communications and customer care solutions. One of his main focus areas has been how to enable commercial customers and service providers to quickly roll out and envision the promise provided by Cisco's collaboration technologies.

As the Collaboration Sales Manager for UAE, Wael is responsible for Cisco's Collaboration and Business-Video Strategy, Sales and Channel Business Development.
Wael joined Cisco in 2006 initially as a Business Development Manager for Unified Communications and Contact Center for the Gulf region. During his career at Cisco, Wael has led the sales development of many of Cisco's Unified Communications and Wireless products including TelePresence, Unified Messaging, Contact Centre, MeetingPlace and Webex (voice, video, and data conferencing), IP Video conferencing, Telephony and Wireless Telephony. Wael has also led the Unified Communication business development for various verticals including Healthcare, Aviation, Education, Oil & Gas, Defence and Hospitality.
Wael is a key player in developing the Services Provider business for Unified Communications Applications, Hosted/Managed Telephony, Hosted/Managed TelePresence and Hosted/Managed Contact Center. He has held many seminars and events for various SPs in the Gulf region addressing Managed Services.Wael started his career as an Software Engineer for Lucent Technologies in 1996 where he managed the software development and implementation of Contact Centers for outsourcers in Europe and the Middle East. He graduated from the Technical University of Budapest as a Software Engineer. His hobbies include squash and swimming. Wael lives in Dubai with his wife and two boys.
