Come December 6th and all eyes will be on Dubai as the top IoT experts convene in this dynamic city for the third edition of the Internet of Things World Forum (IoTWF) 2015. John Chambers, Executive Chariman of Cisco will be flying in to Dubai to deliver a keynote on how the Internet of Things (IoT) is creating a new world of possibilities. We, at Cisco, are very excited to host IoTWF in Dubai and would like to extend a warm welcome to all the delegates attending this event.

The IoTWF is a leading forum in the industry that connects the entire IoT community, where they share emerging applications and highlight the most recent developments. This year, Dubai has been aptly chosen to host the forum as the city is well connected due to the implementation of advanced technology and is also in the process of transforming into an important landmark in the IoT landscape.

The overriding focus at IoTWF 2015 will be the dramatic transformations now gaining momentum across every global sector and creating a new world of opportunities made possible by the IoT. The forum will also provide upcoming IoT startups from around the world an opportunity to showcase and demonstrate their innovative products, solutions, and services.

An important highlight of IoTWF 2015 will be the Smart City experience tours, where attendees will have the opportunity to experience multiple proof of concepts (PoCs), which demonstrate horizontal integration deployment into the city digital platform and include a dynamic mix of smart city and cross-vertical solutions.

No city in the Middle East has more closely aligned itself with the Smart City goal than Dubai, where the Dubai Smart City initiative has made strong progress since its 2013 launch, in becoming one of the world's best-connected, "smartest", and happiest cities by 2017.

The Dubai Smart City initiative harnesses the power of the IoT to help Dubai deliver real value in the key areas of Life, Economy and Tourism. Dubai has already established its Smart City credentials, including the deployment of citywide Wi-Fi that will form the backbone of smart, mobile government services, and providing public sector access to systems, collaboration tools, and business insights.

Smart City solutions such as parking, lighting, and waste management, will be highlighted in addition to cross vertical solutions in transportation, environmental and energy monitoring, safety and security, banking, aviation, and education. The most important part of the tour will be at the Command and Control Centre demonstrating the horizontal integration of nearly all the PoCs into the City Digital Platform to enable aggregation of data from various sensors, solutions, and partners, advanced data analytics, a wide spectrum of urban services, and partner applications.

Cisco has strategically partnered with Etisalat as Innovation Partner and Intel as Elite Sponsor for the IoTWF 2015 and will work together to show how Dubai is transforming into a smart city pioneer in the Middle East and globally as well. The IoTWF sponsors have worked closely with Cisco to accelerate the adoption of IoT and experience real IoT implementations. We appreciate their efforts and would like to thank them for their continued support.

The Internet of Things World Forum 2015, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from December 6-8, 2015.
