The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a partnership between leading edge IT organizations, education, business and community organizations, in Canada and around the world. Part of the Networking Academy content focuses on teaching students how to design, build and maintain computer networks through two certification driven programs (Cisco Certified Networking Associate CCNA, and the Cisco Certified Networking Professional CCNP).
The other segments of the Networking Academy content focuses on teaching students additional IT industry skills such as (IT Essentials I & II, Panduit Network Infrastructure Essentials, Fundamentals of UNIX, and Fundamentals of Java Programming) that will all link to Industry recognized certifications (A+, Server+, Linux+, Sun Certified Java Programmer, and Panduit Authorized Installer). These courses help to prepare students for opportunities in the Internet Economy, while serving as a valuable global model for E-Learning.
In addition, we have introduced two additional programs (Network Security and Fundamentals of Wireless LANs which again link to industry recognized certifications (Cisco Certified Security Professional CCSP and Cisco Wireless LAN Support Specialist CWLSS).
The Networking Academy Program has been tremendously successful around the world. Globally, there are now more than 10,000 Academies in over 150 countries, with more than 1.5 million students currently enrolled. Launched in Canada in 1998, the program has grown to include more than 350 participating secondary schools, colleges, technical institutes and universities from coast-to-coast.
