Cable High Speed Data (HSD) Solutions

Introduction

Increase Bandwidth and Simplify Activation

Cisco Cable High Speed Data (HSD) Solutions offer innovative, standards-based DOCSIS approaches to broadband service activation and support. They help cable operators introduce service bundles that reduce customer turnover and help ensure positive, consistent user experiences. With Cisco Cable HSD Solutions, you can:

• Efficiently deliver tiered and basic Internet data services, along with digital video and voice, to residential and business customers

• Give your subscribers the power to download music and video at record speeds while significantly reducing the cost per bit with DOCSIS 3.0 channel bonding solutions

• Increase bandwidth and deploy new services immediately with efficient and cost-effective migration to full DOCSIS 3.0

• Boost downstream speeds, offering your subscribers 50-Mbps, 100-Mbps, or even faster services through your existing cable plant, and add this technology on a node-by-node basis

Cisco Cable HSD solutions, including DOCSIS 3.0 and modular and integrated cable modem termination system (CMTS) offerings, blend broadband cable RF technology with our highly scalable, secure, and flexible IP core technology. They help you deliver current services more efficiently and provide the means to deliver tomorrow's advanced application-intensive services.

The Cisco Cable HDS Solutions portfolio includes DOCSIS-compliant cable modem termination systems (CMTSs), innovative business and home customer premises equipment, and advanced IP backbone and edge products.

Cisco uBR10012 Universal Broadband Router

This is a proven DOCSIS 3.0, Euro-DOCSIS, and PacketCable Multimedia-qualified CMTS. The platform leads the industry with up to 88 downstream RF ports. Deliver greater bandwidth to subscribers and meet large-scale service demands through current DOCSIS and video infrastructures using this platform.

Cisco uBR7246VXR Universal Broadband Router

DOCSIS, Euro-DOCSIS, and PacketCable Multimedia-qualified. The platform offers 8 downstreams and 32 upstreams.

Cisco uBR7225VXR Universal Broadband Router

This product brings the power and reliability of the Cisco uBR7246VXR within reach of all cable operators. It offers 4 downstreams and 16 upstreams for emerging markets and Tier 2 and 3 cable networks.

Cisco RF Gateway Series

This fully featured series of universal edge quadrature amplitude modulation (U-EQAM) products supports digital broadcast, switched digital video (SDV), video on demand (VoD), and DOCSIS solutions. The RF Gateway 10, the latest product in the series, provides the scalability and high-availability features required to support escalating QAM channel capacity needs.

Cisco Universal Session and Resource Manager (USRM)

A next-generation platform offering more applications, power, and features, this product is compatible with more set-top boxes and QAMs. Cisco USRM creates service efficiencies by allowing the sharing of edge resources among VoD, SDV, and DOCSIS.

Cisco CRS-1 Carrier Routing System

This carrier-class routing system transparently scales to 92 Tbps to deliver extreme capacity while providing investment protection.

Cisco 7600 Series Router

This router offers integrated, high-density Ethernet switching, carrier-class IP/MPLS routing, and 10-Gbps interfaces, allowing you to deliver both consumer and business services over a single converged carrier Ethernet network.

DPC3000 and EPC3000 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modems

This channel-bonded cable modem and embedded media terminal adapter (EMTA) support services in excess of 100 Mbps both upstream and downstream.

DPC2505 and EPC2505 Wideband Cable Modems

These three channel-bonded cable modems support services in excess of 100 Mbps.

Offer Better Speed, Efficiency, and Bandwidth

With Cisco Cable HSD Solutions, you can more effectively challenge your competition by offering higher broadband speeds to subscribers, obtaining greater efficiencies, increasing bandwidth, and deploying advanced services with minimal risk and low capital expenditures. Based on the latest CableLabs specifications, our solutions provide downstream bonded service, and at the same time, offer more downstream bandwidth for existing DOCSIS 1.x and 2.0 customers at a fraction of the cost of adding downstream line cards to a CMTS.

With Cisco Cable HSD solutions, you can:

• Increase the capacity of your existing infrastructure at a fraction of an integrated CMTS downstream QAM.

• Reduce node splits and other bandwidth-management expenditures by adding downstream QAMs and load balancing.

• Lower your DOCSIS 3.0 time to market, cost, and deployment risk.

Cisco offers an extensive array of tried and tested solutions and products. We have been a market leader in hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) for more than 30 years and continue to be an innovator in this technology. We were the first to market with 860 MHz and later with 1 GHz. Our DOCSIS accomplishments between 2001 and 2008 include:

• Invented channel bonding

• First CMTS downstream channel bonding demonstration, first IPv6 demonstration and first CMTS multicast demonstration

• First DOCSIS 3.0 and M-CMTS integration

• Highest-speed channel bonding trial at 293 Mbps and first upstream channel bonding interoperability

• Cisco uBR10012 DOCSIS 3.0 Bronze Qualification in Certification Wave 56

• First chassis-based QAM shelf with high availability

The capabilities we offer help you to deliver the Connected Life, expand your offerings, and get the most out of your infrastructure. With the Cisco IP Next-Generation architecture (IP NGN), we offer end-to-end, comprehensive, high-bandwidth, field-proven, and highly scalable DOCSIS 3.0 solutions.
