These release notes are updated as needed to provide information about new features, caveats, potential software deferrals, and related documents.

Overview of the Cisco Catalyst Wireless Mobile Application

The Cisco Catalyst Wireless mobile application helps you set up and deploy a Cisco Embedded Wireless Controller network easily and conveniently.

What's New in Release 1.1

The following section provides a brief introduction to the new features and enhancements that are introduced in this release:

  • Ability to edit existing controllers under Managed Networks on the mobile app landing page

  • Ability to add a new controller using the Domain Name option on the Add controller page

  • Option to edit the System Name (Cisco Embedded Wireless Controller hostname) on the Controller Info page.

  • Support for Android 10

The following behaviour changes will be observed in compatible client mobile devices:

    • If device location is disabled, then you will receive a prompt to enable global device location before using the Cisco Catalyst Wireless mobile app instead of app-specific location.

    • While using the mobile app, if the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device is disabled or the mobile device is not connected to any SSID, a Wi-Fi panel appears. Depending on the case, this panel either displays an option to enable Wi-Fi or choose from a list of available SSIDs.

This Wi-Fi panel displays a maximum of three SSIDs that are available for connection. To view all available SSIDs, click See More. Once the desired SSID is selected, a confirmation dialog box appears. Choose Connect to proceed with the SSID connection.

      Note

If the Cisco Catalyst Wireless mobile app is terminated forcefully, then this connection to the SSID might be lost. However, the next time the mobile app is launched, the client device will automatically connect to the same SSID that was used previously with the app.

  • Support tested for Cisco Embedded Wireless Controller on Catalyst Access Points, Cisco IOS XE Amsterdam 17.3.x software release

  • Support for tablets in addition to smartphones

Caveats

Caveats describe unexpected behavior in the Cisco Catalyst Wireless mobile application. Severity 1 caveats are the most serious while Severity 2 caveats are less serious both of which are listed in this document. Severity 3 caveats are moderately serious and only select severity 3 caveats are listed here.

The Resolved Caveats and Open Caveats sections list the caveats in release 1.1. The Open Caveats section lists open caveats that apply to the current release and may apply to previous releases. A caveat that is open for a prior release and is still unresolved applies to all future releases until it is resolved.

The following information is provided for each caveat:

  • Identifier—Each caveat is assigned a unique identifier (ID) with a pattern of CSCxxNNNNN, where x is any letter (a-z) and N is any number (0-9). These IDs are frequently referenced in Cisco documentation, such as Security Advisories, Field Notices and other Cisco support documents. Technical Assistance Center (TAC) engineers or other Cisco staff can also provide you with the ID for a specific caveat.

  • Description—A description of what is observed when the caveat occurs.

Cisco Bug Search Tool

Cisco Bug Search Tool (BST) is a web-based tool that acts as a gateway to the Cisco bug tracking system that maintains a comprehensive list of defects and vulnerabilities in Cisco products and software. BST provides you with detailed defect information about your products and software.

Click the Caveat Identifier number in the table. The corresponding BST page is displayed with details of the bug.
