1 Cisco 90-Day Limited Hardware Warranty Terms

There are special terms applicable to your hardware warranty and various services that you can use during the warranty period. Your formal Warranty Statement, including the warranties and license agreements applicable to Cisco software, is available on Cisco.com. Follow these steps to access and download the Cisco Information Packet and your warranty and license agreements from Cisco.com.

1. Launch your browser, and go to this URL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/prod_warranties_listing.html

The Warranties and License Agreements page appears.

2. To read the Cisco Information Packet, follow these steps:

a. Click the Information Packet Number field, and make sure that the part number 78-5235-03B0 is highlighted.

b. Select the language in which you would like to read the document.

c. Click Go.

The Cisco Limited Warranty and Software License page from the Information Packet appears.

d. Read the document online, or click the PDF icon to download and print the document in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).


Note You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print PDF files. You can download the reader from Adobe's website: http://www.adobe.com


3. To read translated and localized warranty information about your product, follow these steps:

a. Enter this part number in the Warranty Document Number field:

b. Select the language in which you would like to read the document.

The Cisco warranty page appears.

d. Review the document online, or click the PDF icon to download and print the document in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).

Duration of Hardware Warranty

Ninety (90) days.

Replacement, Repair, or Refund Policy for Hardware

Cisco or its service center will use commercially reasonable efforts to ship a replacement part within ten (10) working days after receipt of a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) request. Actual delivery times can vary, depending on the customer location.

Cisco reserves the right to refund the purchase price as its exclusive warranty remedy.

2 About this Guide

VPN termination modules provide the extra processing power needed to support the termination of client VPN sessions on the Cisco 4400 Series wireless LAN controller. You can order these modules from the factory and install them in all Cisco 4400 Series wireless LAN controllers.

This guide describes how to install and remove the VPN termination module (crypto card) for Cisco 4400 wireless LAN controllers.

3 Collecting Required Tools and Supplies

You need the following tools and supplies to perform the tasks described in this guide:

Installation—one or two VPN termination modules (the Cisco 4404 Series Wireless LAN Controller supports up to two termination modules)

Removals—one VPN termination module slot cover

Flat or number 2 Phillips screwdriver

4 Installing the VPN Termination Module

To install a VPN termination module into the rear panel of a wireless LAN controller, follow these steps:


Step 1 Remove all power from the wireless LAN controller (Figure 1).

a. Turn power off.

b. Open the latch.

c. Pull the power cord.


Caution The wireless LAN controller can have two power modules, in which case you should remove both power cords.

Step 2 Find the slot for the VPN termination module on the rear panel of the wireless LAN controller (Figure 2).

Step 3 Using the screwdriver, remove the cover from the VPN termination module slot by unscrewing the captive screws and sliding the module out. Store the VPN termination module slot cover for later use.

Step 4 Insert the VPN termination module in the slot (Figure 3).


Caution If you are inserting the VPN termination module into a 4402 controller, insert the module into only Slot 1 (see Figure 2).

Step 5 Gently but firmly press the VPN termination module into the slot until it is firmly seated in the card electrical connector. Use the provided captive screws to secure the VPN termination module to the wireless LAN controller. Tighten the screws to 4.5-5.5 in. lb.

Step 6 Restore all power to restart the wireless LAN controller (Figure 4).

a. Insert power cord into controller. If the controller has two power modules, insert both power cords.

b. Close the latch.

c. Turn controller on.

5 Removing the VPN Termination Module

Complete the following to remove the VPN termination module from the rear panel of a wireless LAN controller:


Step 1 Remove all power from the wireless LAN controller (Figure 5).

a. Turn power off.

b. Open the latch.

c. Pull the power cord. If the controller has two power modules, pull both power cords.

Step 2 Use the screwdriver to loosen the captive screws that secure the VPN termination module to the rear panel of the controller.

Step 3 Pull the black lever to disconnect the VPN termination module from the wireless LAN controller and slide the module out of the controller (Figure 6).

Step 4 Using the screwdriver, secure the VPN termination module slot cover to the rear of the wireless LAN controller. Tighten the screws to 4.5-5.5 in. lb.

Step 5 Restore all power to restart the wireless LAN controller (Figure 7).

a. Insert power cord into controller. If the controller has two power modules, insert both power cords.

b. Close the latch.

c. Turn controller on.
