Introduction

Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway Release 5.2 is the first product release of
Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway. Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway
Release 5.2 ships with Cisco MeetingPlace Audio Server 5.2 and replaces both the tape backup and interim File Transfer Protocol (FTP) solution.

Requirements

The following sections detail requirements for Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway
Release 5.2.

Hardware Requirements

One of the following is required:

One LAN PC with the following minimum requirements for backing up Cisco MeetingPlace files:

450 MHz Pentium III

256 MB RAM, 4 GB disk space

Network interface card

CD-ROM or DVD drive

Network file server (optional)

Software Requirements

The minimum system requirements to install and configure Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway Release 5.2 are the following:

Cisco MeetingPlace 8112 server, formerly called MeetingPlace M3, with Cisco MeetingPlace Audio Server 5.2

Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server edition with Service Pack 2 or a later release and all corresponding Microsoft security patches installed

Microsoft Windows Networking Support

Network Requirements

TCP/IP protocol

One primary IP address for communication between the Cisco MeetingPlace Audio Server and the Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway Server


Note For best performance, the Cisco MeetingPlace Audio Server and the Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway should be located on the same subnet.


Compatibility Matrix and Supported Upgrades

Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway Release 5.2 is compatible with all Cisco MeetingPlace products that are shown in Table 1; this list indicates the minimum software versions that are supported.I

Protect Cisco MeetingPlace Data from Site Disasters

You can install up to three Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateways to provide protection from catastrophic failures.

Tie in to Your Standard Corporate Backup Processes

Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway backs up MeetingPlace database information to a volume that can be stored and retrieved by using standard corporate backup processes.

Greater Security

For companies backing up data via FTP, the Cisco MeetingPlace Network Backup Gateway offers greater security because the Cisco GWSIM 5.2 uses encryption while the FTP solution is unencrypted.

Caveats

There are no known issues.

Submitting a Service Request

Using the online TAC Service Request Tool is the fastest way to open S3 and S4 service requests. (S3 and S4 service requests are those in which your network is minimally impaired or for which you require product information.) After you describe your situation, the TAC Service Request Tool automatically provides recommended solutions. Definitions of Service Request Severity

To ensure that all service requests are reported in a standard format, Cisco has established severity definitions.

Severity 1 (S1)—Your network is "down," or there is a critical impact to your business operations. You and Cisco will commit all necessary resources around the clock to resolve the situation.

Severity 2 (S2)—Operation of an existing network is severely degraded, or significant aspects of your business operation are negatively affected by inadequate performance of Cisco products. You and Cisco will commit full-time resources during normal business hours to resolve the situation.

Severity 3 (S3)—Operational performance of your network is impaired, but most business operations remain functional. You and Cisco will commit resources during normal business hours to restore service to satisfactory levels.

Severity 4 (S4)—You require information or assistance with Cisco product capabilities, installation, or configuration. There is little or no effect on your business operations.
