New Features in Cisco CPC 1.5.0
Cisco Configuration Professional for Catalyst provides the following features in this release:
Table 1 New Features in Cisco CPC 1.5.0
Feature
Description
Switched Port Analyzer (SPAN) and Remote
SPAN (RSPAN)
Analyze network traffic passing through ports or VLANs using this feature. You can send a copy of the traffic to another port on the switch or on another switch that has been connected to a network analyzer or other monitoring device.
For example, if you connect a Cisco Intrusion Detection System (IDS) sensor appliance to a destination port, the IDS device can send TCP reset packets to close down the TCP session of a suspected attacker.
Note RSPAN is not supported on the Cisco Catalyst 2960-L and Cisco Catalyst Digital Building switch.
Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).
Supports RIP to exchange routing information.
The Cisco implementation of RIP Version 2 (RIPv2) supports plain text and message digest algorithm 5 (MD5) authentication, route summarization, classless inter-domain routing (CIDR), and variable-length subnet masks (VLSMs).
With RIP, the largest possible width of your network is 15 hops. But, with EIGRP, it is increased to 100 hops, and the metric is large enough to support thousands of hops. It allows routing information to converge quickly and sends incremental updates when the state of a destination changes, instead of sending the entire contents of the routing table.
So, it minimizes the bandwidth required for EIGRP packets. Therefore, it scales to large networks.
Note EIGRP is not supported on the Cisco Catalyst 2960-L and Cisco Catalyst 2960-X switch.

Caveats
The following caveats describe unexpected behavior in Cisco Configuration Professional for Catalyst. Severity 1 caveats are the most serious caveats, severity 2 caveats are less serious, and severity 3 caveats are the least serious of these three severity levels.
Cisco Bug Search Tool
The Bug Search Tool (BST), which is the online successor to Bug Toolkit, is designed to improve the effectiveness in network risk management and device troubleshooting. The BST allows partners and customers to search for software bugs based on product, release, and keyword, and aggregates key data such as bug details, product, and version. The tool has a provision to filter bugs based on credentials to provide external and internal bug views for the search input.
