Cisco Configuration Professional for Catalyst provides the following features in this release:
Table 1 New Features in Cisco CPC 1.4.0
Feature
Description
Access Control List (ACL)
Allows you to filter traffic as it passes through a switch and permit or deny packets crossing specified interfaces by testing packets against the conditions in an access list.
Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA)
Provides an extra level of protection and control than using access lists alone. Configure AAA using RADIUS, TACACS+, and LDAP protocols.
Services – Security – Access Policy
802.1X port-based authentication: Prevents unauthorized client devices from gaining access to the network using a RADIUS authentication server.
MAC Authentication Bypass (MAB): Uses the MAC address of the connecting device to grant or deny network access.
Web Authentication Proxy (WAP): Enables you to authenticate end users on host systems that do not run the IEEE 802.1X supplicant.
VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP) Configuration
Allows you to add a new Layer 2 VLAN in the 2-4094 Id range. Reduces administration overhead by distributing VLAN configuration on one VTP server across all switches in the domain.
Perform tasks like setting or changing VTP domain, password, version, VLAN Mode, MST Mode and primary server configuration at one go.
Switch Virtual Interface (SVI)
Allows you to use a virtual Layer 3 interface to route traffic to other Layer 3 interfaces and eliminates the need for a physical router.
Energy saver
Use Cisco EnergyWise to manage the energy usage of powered devices in your network.
Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE): Reduces power consumption in Ethernet networks during idle periods.
Wake-on-LAN (WoL): Allows you to send a network message to wake up a computer or end-point device.
Virtual Stacking or Clustering of switches
Supports physical and virtual stacking of supported switch models and presents it as a single logical entity to the network.

Caveats
The following caveats describe unexpected behavior in Cisco Configuration Professional for Catalyst. Severity 1 caveats are the most serious caveats, severity 2 caveats are less serious, and severity 3 caveats are the least serious of these three severity levels.
Cisco Bug Search Tool
The Bug Search Tool (BST), which is the online successor to Bug Toolkit, is designed to improve the effectiveness in network risk management and device troubleshooting. The BST allows partners and customers to search for software bugs based on product, release, and keyword, and aggregates key data such as bug details, product, and version. The tool has a provision to filter bugs based on credentials to provide external and internal bug views for the search input.
To view the details of a caveat listed in this document:
The command, interface range gig 4/0/1-28 cannot be executed from the CLI.
