IPIVR File System Errors

Introduction

This document provides information on how to troubleshoot the issue of the IPIVR server receiving file system error messages.

The information in this document is based on Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX) 8.0(1).

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Problem

With Cisco Unified Contact Center Express 8.0(1), the IPIVR server experiences file system error messages after an unexpected shutdown.

EXT3-fs error (device sda6) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted.

After a login via SSH to the CLI, this output is received:

 WARNING:
        The /common file system is mounted read only.
        Please use Recovery Disk to check the file system using fsck.

Solution

This issue is documented by Cisco bug ID CSCti28336 (registered customers only) , where the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) recovery CD will need to be used in order to run the file system check as root access is disabled by default on the UCCX server. Therefore, fsck cannot be run. Perform these steps:

  1. Boot the system using the CUCM recovery disk.

  2. From the recovery CD menu, choose option 'f' to run the file system check.

    Note: This might be a different option, so you need to ensure that the letter or number displayed to run the file system check is chosen.

  3. When completed, choose option 'q' to quit the recovery CD.

  4. Eject the CD when prompted, then reboot the system.

Problem

A partial message is played when using TTS for the synthesis of Russian speech.

Solution

The cause of this issue can be UCCX's VoiceBrowser sending the wrong Content-Length, if a line contains non-English letters. VoiceBrowser passes number of characters instead of the row size in bytes. This leads to a problem with TTS playing. Only 50% of the message gets played because the size of a non-English letter can be two bytes (unlike one byte for English).
