Introduction
This document describes Cisco IOS® XE software (SW) last release support for cBR-8 End-of-Sale (EoS) hardware (HW) Part IDs (PIDs).
Problem
It can be difficult to determine when cBR-8 Cisco IOS XE SW support is discontinued for specific cBR-8 EoS HW PIDs. This must be derived through correlation of EoS dates described in the HW EoS notice with review of release note documents and software upgrade guides for multiple cBR-8 Cisco IOS XE releases. When a cBR-8 HW EoS notice is published, the last version of cBR-8 Cisco IOS XE SW that supports the EoS PIDs is not yet known. Version-specific release notes for cBR-8 Cisco IOS XE SW identify the minimum required or recommended firmware (FW) versions for HW components supported by that specific release. When Cisco IOS XE support for a cBR-8 HW PID is discontinued, the release notes and software upgrade guide for that release can omit the EoS HW component but not specifically indicate it as no longer supported.
Solution
The last Cisco IOS XE SW release that supports a cBR-8 EoS HW PID is identified in the Last SW Release Support column of each table in this section. EoS HW PID use and interoperability with any later Cisco IOS XE release is not officially supported. The last linecard HW version ID (VID) that supports the EoS PHY Modules as well as the last HW VID for the Cylons-R Remote Phy Linecard is identified in the Last Linecard HW VID Support column of each table in this section.
