Problem Description

The 8-port OC-3/STM-1 cards were raising false alarms (HI/LO LASERBAIS, HI/LO-TXPOWER, HI/LO-RXPOWER) on the Cisco Transport Controller (CTC) and the Cisco Transport Manager (CTM).

Background

During release 6.0 development testing, SVT identified 8-port OC-3/STM-1 cards that were raising false alarms (HI/LO LASERBAIS, HI/LO-TXPOWER, HI/LO-RXPOWER).

Problem Symptoms

Upon upgrading to release 6.0 or later software, systems installed with 8-port OC-3/STM-1 cards with mis-programmed data will have standing alarms for high-low laser bias, transmit power and receive power.

These alarms do not trigger any other service affecting software actions. Alarms will remain until the card is replaced with a correctly programmed card.

Workaround/Solution

There is no workaround in the field for these cards.

Please return the cards for replacements through an RMA.

How To Identify Hardware Levels

To identify the impacted cards, go to the inventory tab within CTC or CTM for the 15454 or 15454E and check the serial numbers against the list of serial numbers in the Serial Numbers section above.

Only the serial numbers listed in the Serial Numbers section of this Field Notice are impacted.
