Problem Description

Customers that are using a Third Party SNMP Network Management System (NMS) or Element Management System (EMS) system to monitor the 15454, 15454E or 15310 ML cards, may not be able to correctly compile the MIB files CISCO-ENTITY-VENDORTYPE-OID-MIB.my or CISCO-TC.my that was included on System Software Release R5.0.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2 and 5.0.3 for the 15454, 15454E and 15310 platforms.

Note: This issue does not impact Cisco's EMS, Cisco Transport Manager.

Background

This issue was seen at a customer site and later verified to be related to errors in the MIB files that were included on the production CD(s) and posted to the Optical Software Center (registered customers only) .

Problem Symptoms

This issue may become apparent when attempting to compile either the CISCO-ENTITY-VENDORTYPE-OID-MIB.my or the CISCO-TC.myMIBs on a third party SNMP EMS or NMS system.

Workaround/Solution

This issue has been corrected through a change to the CISCO-ENTITY-VENDORTYPE-OID-MIB.my and CISCO-TC.my MIBS which are housed within the updated MIB .zip files posted to the Optical Software Center (registered customers only) on Cisco.com.

NOTE: The MIB .zip files for R5.0.0-R5.0.3 previously posted to the Optical Software Center have been removed and replaced with the corrected MIB .zip packages. There has been a change to the naming convention used for these downloadable .zip files that will allow for the identification of revised or updated files for Releases R5.0.0-R5.0.3. The new .zip filenames will incorporate a 0A in the file name and a 0A Update in the file descriptions found at the Optical Software Center.

Example of MIB .zip package containing revised files:

15310-5_00_0A_MIBS.zip -(ONS 15310 R5.0.0 0A Update MIB Files)

This issue has not been corrected on the CD media listed in the Products Affected section above. The first version of CD media to incorporate this fixed MIB files will be R5.0.4.

The files for the 15454 and 15454E platforms can be found here (registered customers only) , and the files for the 15310 platform can be obtained here (registered customers only) .

If you do not have access to the Optical Software Center (registered customers only) on Cisco.com, you may contact the Technical Assistance Center directly for assistance in obtaining these updated MIB files.
