Cisco Conference Connection

Field Notice: Password Failure After Cisco Conference Connection Upgrade

March 21, 2002

Products Affected

SW-CCC-V1.1 (Cisco Conference Connection)

Some passwords do not work with CCC after upgrade to CCM 3.2(1)

Problem Description

During a Cisco CallManager upgrade to release 3.2(1) user passwords for Cisco Conference Connection can be lost due to a null value created by the algorithm used to copy passwords.

For example, if a user creates a password 1234 and CallManager is upgraded to 3.2 (1) the user's password is lost.

Problem Symptoms

Some users may no longer be able to log in to schedule conferences or view conference information on their Cisco 7960/40 IP Phone Services menu. Notably the password 1234 will not be allowed access due to an error importing data from the directory service.

There is no fix for this problem, however the user may change their password using the Cisco CallManager User administration page and wait approximately 10 minutes to allow the normal synchronization to complete. After this time, the user should be able to log in to conference connection.

A password that is known to work properly is 12345. If the password selected by the user does not work, 12345 can be used briefly to rule out any other source of problems such as those described in CSCdw89562 (synchronization not working).
