Experiencing buzzing sound when speaking through the SPA901 handset

Introduction

This article is one in a series to assist in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Cisco Small Business products (formerly Linksys Business Series).

Q. What can I do if I am experiencing buzzing sound when I speak through the handset?

A.

Step 1:
Access the SPA901 web-based setup page.

Step 2:
Click Admin Login then advanced.



Step 3:
Click Phone.



Step 4:
Scroll down and look for Audio Input Gain (dB). Set the Handset Input Gain to -6 or 6. Then click Submit All Changes.



Note: Check the sound quality on the phone to determine if it has improved. If this did not work, proceed to Step 6.

Step 5:
Click EXT 1. Look for Silence Supp Enable and set it to yes.

Note: If you are still encountering the same problem after these changes, reset the device to factory default and reconfigure it.
