A. Cisco ® Aironet ® 1130G Series Access Points provide all the same hardware and software functionality as the 1130AG Series with the exception of the radios. The 1130G series offers a single 802.11g radio and is designed for use in regulatory domains that do not allow 802.11a/5 GHz operation.

A. Both series offer dual-band access points designed for the enterprise. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is designed for indoor office environments. The complete system is deployable without external antennas, and its low-profile design is aesthetically pleasing while blending into walls or ceilings. The Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series offers greater flexibility for harsh indoor environments or challenging RF environments. Dual antenna connectors allow the addition of specialized antennas to support a range of antenna gains and directions. In addition, the metal enclosure and operability in a wider temperature range allow for installation above the ceiling.
Q. How does the Cisco Aironet 1130G Series compare to the Cisco Aironet 1100 Series?
A. The Cisco Aironet 1130G Series is the single-band 802.11g version of the Cisco Aironet flagship indoor access point the Cisco Aironet 1130AG. It offers additional memory, processing power, and 802.3af power over the Cisco Aironet 1100 Series. The List Price for Cisco Aironet 1130G and 1100 Series are $699 and $599 respectively.
Q. How does the Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series compare to the Cisco Aironet 1100 Series?
A. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series offers a dual-band access point supporting 802.11a/b/g for data rates up to 108 Mbps. The Cisco Aironet 1100 Series only supports a single radio. Legacy Cisco Aironet 1100 Series access points have an 802.11b radio that may be field-upgraded to 802.11g, or the Cisco Aironet 1100 Series may currently be ordered with a single 802.11g radio that is backward-compatible with 802.11b.

Both access points are designed for indoor/office-type applications. Both support interoperable 802.11i/WPA2-enhanced wireless LAN security. The Cisco Aironet 1100 Series has 2.2-dBi integrated diversity antennas. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series has 3.0 and 4.5-dBi integrated diversity antennas for the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, respectively, and provides greater range and throughput than the Cisco Aironet 1100 Series. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series can be configured through an available console port; the Cisco Aironet 1100 Series does not include a console port. The Cisco Aironet 1100 Series supports operations as a workgroup bridge; the Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series does not.

A. Yes. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is compliant with IEEE 802.3af. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is also compliant with Cisco prestandard Power over Ethernet (PoE). The Cisco Inline Power switch port must be capable of supplying at least 15.4W of power on the port, with at least 12.95W delivered to the powered devices.

A. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is compliant with the IEEE 802.3af standard, as well as Cisco prestandard PoE. It draws approximately 12.95W from an inline power source, so it requires a power source capable of providing this amount of power. While all 802.3af-compliant power-sourcing equipment (PSE) is capable of providing 12.95W to the powered device, not all Cisco PSE can provide this amount of power. A. Yes. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is WPA2-compliant. WPA2 is the second generation of WPA specified by the Wi-Fi Alliance industry organization, and is based on the IEEE 802.11i standard for wireless LAN security. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is backward-compatible with clients certified for the first-generation WPA (which provided security enhancements to the Wired Equivalent Privacy [WEP] algorithm), as well as with clients certified for the original WEP security.

A. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is interoperable with any 802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g Wi-Fi-certified client. Cisco clients and third-party Cisco Compatible clients and devices are interoperable with the Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series while also providing the enhanced wireless security and mobility inherent in a Cisco wireless LAN solution.

Third-party vendors will begin to introduce Cisco Compatible Extension V3 clients starting in the first half of 2005. Cisco Aironet 350 Series clients do not support WPA2, and there are no plans to add this support.

Q. When will the Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series support the expanded channel set within the FCC regulatory domain?
A. At present, the Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series supports the 12 channels in the UNII 1, 2, and 3 bands within the 5 GHz spectrum. For operations in the 5.47 to 5.725 GHz band, the FCC requires that equipment implement a radar detection function, the particulars of which are currently not defined by the FCC.

The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series does support the 802.11h standard, which allows for operation across the 5 GHz band within the ETSI regulatory domain. When the FCC finalizes its radar detection requirements (expected in the second half of 2005), Cisco will support these regulatory requirements and provide an expanded 5 GHz channel set for this regulatory domain following the standard FCC approval process.

Q. Can I operate the Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series Access Point in Europe?
A. Yes, the Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is operable in Europe. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series Access Point is dual-band; it operates in the 2.4 and 5-GHz bands. According to the ECC Decision ECC/DEC(04)08, WLAN devices operating in the 5 GHz band must implement the Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) requirement, which includes radar detection.

The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is fully compliant with ECC/DEC(04)08 and EN 301 893.
