Overview

Cisco is pleased to announce the availability of reduced-material accessory kits for the Cisco ® 2800 Series Integrated Services Routers in our efforts to make product changes that reduce the environmental impact of our network solutions. The new accessory kits save material by removing items that customers usually do not use. The items removed include the console cable, Ethernet cable, auxiliary cable or adapter, Quick Start documentation, and cable guides.
The standard accessory kit is included with a Cisco 2800 Series Integrated Services Router by default, and the new green accessory kit is an available option in the configuration tools. Since the release of the Cisco 2800 Series Routers, paper documentation in the accessory kits has been reduced by nearly 170 pages, saving 820 grams of paper. Every green accessory kit saves an additional 330 grams of material, potentially reducing 100 tons from landfills annually. The reduced-material kits result in less consumption of raw materials in manufacturing, energy savings due to lower shipping weights, and fewer materials that will eventually become waste.
Table 1 describes the contents of the Cisco 2800 Series accessory kits.
