Cisco ® Video Analytics software offers users innovative ways to perform video analysis. The software provides an intuitive interface and powerful tools to enable organizations to make the best use of their surveillance video. Analytics processing occurs on edge devices, providing a cost-effective method of deploying video analytics on the network.
Cisco Video Analytics offers a choice between two analytics packages: Security and Counting. Each package offers a Base and a Plus version; users may upgrade from the Base versions to the Plus versions for more advanced analytics capabilities. For a comprehensive comparison of features across both packages, refer to the section titled "Cisco Video Analytics Packages: Feature Comparison."
Events that are generated by the Cisco Video Analytics software will be sent to the Cisco Video Surveillance Media Server and may be viewed on that platform. For more information about event viewing, please refer to the Cisco Video Surveillance Media Server user guide. Cisco Video Analytics is supported on Cisco Video Surveillance Media Server Versions 6.3.1 and later.

Security Package

The Security Base package provides tripwire detection as well as the ability to classify objects and detect camera tampering and loitering events.

• Tripwire: Identifies user-defined objects that move in a specified direction as they cross over a line (tripwire) drawn within the camera's field of view.

• Object classification: Differentiates between a person, vehicle, or other objects.

• Camera tampering detection: Identifies any event that significantly changes the field of view of the camera.

• Loitering: Detects when a person or vehicle remains in a user-defined area of interest for a configurable length of time.

• Take away events: Detects when an object has been removed from a user-defined area of interest.

The Security Plus package supports all the behaviors that are included in the Security Base package and adds the detection of multiline tripwire events, leave-behind events, and more.

• Multiline tripwire: Enables the association between two virtual tripwires with respect to crossing one before the other and relative time between crossing both.

• Leave-behind events: Detects when an object has been left behind or inserted in the full view of a camera.

Counting Package

The Counting Base package includes behaviors for multiline tripwire counting and object classification.
The Counting Plus package supports all the behaviors that are included in the Counting Base package, along with other features, such as occupancy sensing, dwell-time monitoring, and enters/exits event counting.

• Enters/exits events: Detects when an object enters or exits a specified area of interest from any direction within the camera's field of view.

• Occupancy: Provides information about the number of people in a user-defined area of interest.

• Dwell time: Provides data about the length of time each person spends in a user-defined area of interest.

The user may run only the Security or Counting package at a given time. On certain devices, the Base version may come pre-loaded at no extra cost, with an option to purchase an upgrade for the Plus version. For other devices, the user may directly purchase either the Base or Plus packages.
