Product Migration Options

Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco Enterprise Content Delivery System (ECDS) Software. Information about this product can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/go/ecds.
The Cisco ECDS is a comprehensive media delivery system that helps enterprise organizations easily extend the reach and the quality of the video experience over their existing WAN infrastructures. With the Cisco ECDS, organizations can effectively and simultaneously scale all business video from live events to video-on-demand (VOD) applications.
For live and VOD content, the Cisco ECDS supports real-time streaming formats (Windows Media RTSP, Apple QuickTime RTSP, Adobe Flash RTMP) as well as the latest HTTP-based adaptive-bit-rate formats, specifically Apple HLS and Microsoft HSS. The Cisco ECDS provides a feature-rich combination of unicast and multicast capabilities, using dynamic caching and prepositioning to assure reliable delivery and keep content synchronized and up-to-date across enterprise WANs.
The Cisco ECDS can be flexibly deployed on either Cisco Media Delivery Engine appliances or on virtual blades. The virtualized software can also be deployed on the Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2(ISR G2) family of products, including the Cisco ISR Application Experience (AX), on either the Cisco UCS E-Series or SRE modules. The Cisco ECDS can be ordered separately and ships on DVD or ordered as a software application option under the UCS-E Series or Services Ready Engine (SRE) module for the Cisco ISR. In addition, virtual blade support is available for VM-enabled server hardware, as well as select Cisco Wide Area Virtualization Engine (WAVE) appliances.
