ThreatGRID Enhances Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP)

On June 16 Cisco completed the acquisition of ThreatGRID, a New York, NY based company that offers dynamic malware analysis and threat intelligence technology. With the close of this acquisition Cisco will provide private and public cloud-based technology that combines dynamic malware analysis with analytics and actionable indicators to enable security teams to proactively defend against and to quickly respond to advanced cyber-attacks and malware outbreaks.

On January 7 Cisco completed the integration of ThreatGRID products into the Cisco Security Product Portfolio. The ThreatGRID products complement Cisco's Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) portfolio and the private-cloud products expands Cisco's ability to protect customers with stringent in-house data retention requirements.

The acquisition of ThreatGRID reinforces Cisco's commitment to providing customers with a secure, intelligent network, a key company priority. The Cisco AMP Threat Grid products enhance our existing ability to aggregate and correlate data across the extended network, identify advanced and evasive cyber threats and provide comprehensive security solutions for our customers.

Cisco's Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) solution was originally developed by Sourcefire, and is now integrated into Cisco Web Security Appliances, Email Security Appliances and Cloud Web Security offerings.
