April 13, 2015 - Cisco has acquired Embrane, a provider of a lifecycle management platform for application-centric network services including firewalls (FW), virtual private networks (VPNs), load balancers (LB) and SSL offload engines.

As Cisco continues to move towards a future of virtualization and automation, the unique skillset and talent of the Embrane team, combined with Cisco's engineering expertise, will further extend the Nexus product footprint and Application Centric Infrastructure.

We continue our focus on delivering to our customers freedom of choice in modernizing their data centers with 10/40/100G Ethernet while equipping their data centers with Network Virtualization, Automation and Programmability with Open API's and a rich ecosystem. With the addition of Electron, we will continue to execute on this strategy and deliver - with agility - these capabilities globally.

With this acquisition, we continue our commitment to open standards through programmable APIs and multi-vendor environments.
