daughter card.
Title: Deferral - RSP/RSM MAC Address Errors
URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770//fn4548_06301999.shtml
(available to registered users)
Summary: Using any form of RSP switching (optimum/flow/cef) on any type of
Ethernet interface (10 Mb/100 Mb/gigabit) can cause packet errors in the MAC
address fields of packets that are input from any interface sharing the same MEMD
packet free pools as that Ethernet interface. Packets will end up with an
incorrect MAC header and therefore will not correctly reach their destinations.

URL: http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn5568_06181999.shtml
(available to registered users)
Summary: Certain chassis configurations result in two-port Gigabit Ethernet cards
not coming up when installed with 10/100 EPAMs. These same cards work when moved
to other slots in the chassis. Read/write hardware errors occur in Catalyst 8540s
when eight-port Gigabit Ethernet cards are installed with 10/100 EPAMs with a
field programmable gate array (FPGA) image of less than fi-c8540-epam.A.3-2.
