Description:
This lab demonstrates the deployment of the AVVID Architecture and the QoS. The branch office in San Jose and the headquarters located in NYC are interconnected using an emulated Frame Relay WAN. Both location has its own Call Manager server which is by itself a cluster, and which are interconnected via H.323. Through this model, known as the Multi-site WAN with Distributed Call Processing model, calls between sites can traverse the IP WAN.
To prevent voice oversubscription on the Wide Area Network a gatekeeper based- admission control is used. PSTN overflow would take place when the number of voice calls trying to access the WAN exceeds the configured gatekeeper limit. Calls between sites may overflow to the PSTN transparently to the user.
With the release of Catalyst OS 5.5 there are some features that enhance the capability to apply QoS at Layer 2. This includes being able to prioritize voice traffic based on IEEE 802.1p and tag the voice traffic based on 802.1Q.
Also included in this lab are some of the new AVVID products like the Catalyst 3524 and Catalyst 6000 which are both with in-line power, MGCP support using the new VG200 gateway, DSP farms for transcoding/conferencing, and the new IP 7960 phones.
