Cisco - the worldwide leader for Networking solutions for the Internet- has announced today that Shahab Meshki has been appointed Regional Sales Manager for the East Africa region.

Shahab joined Cisco in Germany in 1995.
Fascinated about Africa and its vast opportunities for growth and development, he moved with his family 4 1/2 years ago from Germany to Kenya, to open the Cisco office in Nairobi and lead the growth of the business notably in Ethiopia. With his working and living in Africa, Shahab is one of the first and most experienced Emerging Africa employees around.

He then joined the Cisco Networking Academy, for which he was the regional manager Middle East and Africa for two years. During this time, the number of students in Networking Academy grew by 50% YoY and the program became strongly aligned with the business to contribute to the capacity building initiatives in Transformation Initiatives such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Nigeria and Cameroon.

His strong experience from his extensive dealings with emerging economies and governments in East Africa and has been instrumental in driving public private partnerships in those regions, particularly in the case of Ethiopia.

“East Africa is a quickly developing Service Provider Market, with the EASSY submarine cable project driving a significant number of terrestrial infrastructure projects (Mobile and Wireline). The commercial business is booming and the public sector sees major growth through the many e-Government Projects.” says Meshki

Born in 1961 in Iran and having lived in Germany for over 26 years, Shahab bridges East and West by understanding the complimentary role diverse cultures need to play in an ever-increasing integrated global community.

Cisco has local offices in Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Senegal, South Africa and in the process of being opened in Mauritius, Ethiopia and Angola.
