Description of the Release

Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2(15)ZJ is an ED release (XED) optimized for the Cisco 1700, Integrated Access Devices (IAD) 2430, 2600, 3600, and 3700 series routers. This release is based upon the Cisco IOS Software 12.2(15)T maintenance release. This release introduces IOS support for ITS 3.0, Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) 3.0, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) SRST, IAD 2430 platform, hardware echo cancellation (ECAN), NM HD 1V-2V-2VE, Voice Interface Card (VIC) 4Foreign Exchange Office (FXO)/2FXO, asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) over ISDN VWIC, DPNSS Backhaul, Frame Relay switched virtual circuits (FRSVC) over ISDN, BRI Backhaul, private line auto ringdown (PLAR) on Turrets, UM Supplemental Services, Data Encryption Standard (DES)/3DES/AES VPN Encryption Module, Cisco Unity Express-Network Module, Enhanced ITU-T G.168 Echo Cancellation, Intrusion Detection Network Module, 802.X and Type of Service (ToS) for Quality of Service (QoS), Customizable Tone Download, and NM16A/S.

Any early deployment (ED) release of software should be used in a test network before being deployed in a production network.

Feature Description:

  • ITS 3.0- IOS Telephony Service Phase 3.0 delivers the next-generation ITS feature set.
  • SIP SRST- provides basic survivability for SIP phones using SRST .
  • SRST 3.0- SRST is an existing IP Telephony solution that allows IP phones on remote branch sites to "fallback" to its default gateway on the site and perform basic functions such as placing outgoing public switched telephone network (PSTN) calls and receiving incoming PSTN calls .
  • IAD 2430- IAD2430 Series Integrated Access Devices are next generation of customer premises equipment (CPE) platforms targeted at all service providers, Post, Telephone, and Telegraphs (PTTs), competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs), and inter-exchange carriers (IXCs).
  • Hardware ECAN- T1/E1 Multiflex Voice/WAN Interface Cards alongwith an optional echo cancellation module.
  • NM HD 1V-2V-2VE/ VIC 4FXO/2FXO - voice/fax network modules, enables important applications such as IP Telephony, toll bypass, and full gateway integration. The voice/WAN interface cards supported by the new NMs are: 2 and 4 port FXS; 2 and 4 port FXO; 2 port DID, E/M, CAMA, and BRI (S/T); and 1 and 2 port T1/E1.
  • ADSL over ISDN VWIC- 1 port ADSL over ISDN Wan Interface Card with Dying Gasp support.
  • DPNSS Backhaul - Digital Private Network Signaling System Layer 2 backhauling to PGW2200.
  • FRSVC over ISDN- Frame Relay SVC over ISDN.
  • BRI Backhaul - Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) controlled backhaul of gateway BRI signaling in conjunction with Cisco CallManager.
  • PLAR on Turrets - Switched H.323 PLAR for Trading Turrets (re-establishes PLAR connection).
  • UM Supplemental Services - Call waiting with Caller ID, additional call offering, call hold and specific digit sequence for call waiting activation/deactivation.
  • DES/3DES/AES VPN Encryption Module - VPN Encryption Module AIM-VPN/BPII.
  • Cisco Unity Express (CUE) - Network Module - CUE Network Module which provides voice mail and auto attendant services with Cisco IOS Telephony Services or Cisco CallManager with SRST.
  • Enhanced ITU-T G.168 Echo Cancellation - 5421 DSP in NM-HDA High Complexity and Medium Complexity, 5421 DSP in AIM - Voice Medium Complexity, and the Catalyst 4000 AGM platform using 5409 SP medium complexity digital and high complexity analog WICs.
  • Intrusion Detection Network Module - Cisco IDS code to the NM form factor for a 1 box solution.
  • 802.X and ToS for QoS - Qos to CoS is a QoS value not in Layer 2 802.1q.
  • Customizable Tone Download - Customizable Tone Download to Cisco IOS MGCP gateways from Cisco CallManager.
  • NM16A/S - 16 port muli-interface synchronous or asynchronous serial network module for 2600/3600/3700 routers.
