Setting Up the Message Store Client


In this chapter, you do the following task:

1. Install and configure Lotus Notes on the Cisco Unity server. See the "Installing Lotus Notes on the Cisco Unity Server" section.

When you are finished with this chapter, return to the applicable task list for your platform type to continue installing the Cisco Unity system correctly:

Installing Lotus Notes on the Cisco Unity Server


Note Cisco assumes that the message store environment is already set up and working before the Cisco Unity system is installed.


Do the following two procedures in the order listed.

To install Lotus Notes on the Cisco Unity server


Step 1 On the Cisco Unity server, insert the IBM Lotus Notes disc in the CD-ROM drive.

Step 2 Browse to the Lotus Notes directory, and double-click Setup.exe.

Step 3 Follow the on-screen prompts.

Step 4 When you are prompted to specify destination folders, for both the program and the data folders, use the drive location for binary files that you made note of in the "Determining the Drive Locations for Files on the Cisco Unity System" section.

Step 5 Click Next.

Step 6 Select Notes Client, and click Next.

Step 7 Follow the on-screen prompts.

Step 8 If a dialog window appears warning about a read-only file that is about to be replaced, check the Don't Display Again check box, and click No.

Step 9 Click Finish.


To configure Lotus Notes to use the Cisco Unity account


Step 1 On the Cisco Unity server, on the Windows Start menu, click Programs > Lotus Applications > Lotus Notes.

Step 2 On the welcome screen, click Next.

Step 3 Click I Want to Connect to a Domino Server, and click Next.

Step 4 Click Set Up Connection to a Local Area Network (LAN), and click Next.

Step 5 Enter the name of the Domino server on which you created the Cisco Unity account, and click Next.

Step 6 Click My Notes User ID.

Step 7 Browse to the directory where the Cisco Unity account file is saved (on the Domino server or on a disk inserted into the floppy drive), and double-click the Unity ID file.

Step 8 Click Yes to copy it locally, and click Next.

Step 9 Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the configuration.

Step 10 Click Finish.

Step 11 If the Enter Password dialog box appears, enter the password for the Cisco Unity account.

Step 12 In the Setup Complete dialog, click OK.

Step 13 Exit Lotus Notes.
