Wouldn't it be great if you could automatically locate, be authenticated, and securely connect to the best cellular data or Wi-Fi network as you roam, without logging in or sharing credentials?

Many of the 40,000 attendees at Mobile World Congress 2017 in San Francisco were able to get a sneak preview of our seamless Wi-Fi roaming future thanks to the high-density Passpoint®-enabled (Hotspot 2.0) network deployed by Cisco and its service provider partners.

The underlying infrastructure is based on the all new Catalyst 9000 series Cisco Digital Network Architecture (DNA) based Software Defined Access (SD-Access). SD-Access simplified the provisioning of the network but more importantly secured and segmented the network based on the requirements of the event.

In this special episode of TechWiseTV, Robb and Lauren roam the show floor (at 60 Mbps down and 70 Mbps up) to catch up with the leaders and experts responsible not only for this incredible network build but for the tireless push to make automatic, secure Wi-Fi connectivity ubiquitous wherever we go.

Interviews include:

  • Matt MacPherson, Cisco
  • Shrikant Shenwai, CEO of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA)
  • Derek Peterson, CTO of Boingo Wireless
  • Mir Alami, Cisco
  • Muhammad Imam, Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series TME lead.
