Log into MSO Dashboard

We already have multi-tiered application running on-premise with ACI. As discussed in the introduction, we wish to extend  the "front-end" of the application closer to European region for GDPR reasons  while keeping the  policy consistent.

MSO serves as a single "pane of glass" for managing multiple clouds as we will see in this short walkthrough demo. Let us now log into the MSO dasboard to view multiple sites as well as push the policies consistently across them.

Enter the credentials

Enter the valid credentials to log into MSO controller. For simplicity purposes , let us consider the ACI cloud controller instances running in AWS and Azure and all three sites already registered with ACI.

View your cloud options

The Cisco ACI multi-site orchestrator is like a universal remote that connects all the cloud instances, then through a single pane of glass, offers centralized visibility, ease of troubleshooting hotspots, and more importantly run the audits for compliance. In this view, we are able to view all the three sites. Click on the AWS site to view the health scores quickly.

Once we confirm that the health scores are desirable, we will proceed to view the connectivity between the various sites.

 

Is your cloud option ready?

The health scores seem to be desireable. If there were some issues, you could "drill down" from this menu to troubleshoot problems. This "simplicity" can save a cloud/network administrators lot of time and frustration thus resulting in streamlined multi-cloud maintainance and administration. 

For now, let us continue to view the connectivity details. Further on, we will be able to push policies across these clouds centrally.

A schema is a collection of templates, which are used for defining policies.

This is a simple visual representation that shows all the three sites are now connected such that the MSO can now manage them centrally.

Here, we will continue to push the schemas to all the three pre-defined sites in AWS and Azure.

Each of the public clouds have their own policy model. Typically, the user would need to understand the nuances of each cloud and be proficient in operating them. That is a lot of training and/ or resources one would need to throw to manage these different clouds. This seems very expensive and complex to manage such an environment.

As discussed earlier, with a single click, one can deploy the entire scheme to all the clouds. Such simplicity lets network and cloud operators save lot of time and complexity this providing more time for the application developers to devolop applications and continue innovating.

Confirming consistent policy on the cAPIC AWS Dashboard
