There is SO much noise in the industry around Zero Trust, but what does any of it really mean to the security practitioner? There is so much marketing hype, where everybody who has a security product is now somehow providing you with Zero Trust solutions. In this intermediate-level session, we will provide clarity to all this noise, and discuss how a pure Zero Trust model was always intended to be, why and how that model provides for efficient security; the way it changes the paradigm of the problem we face securing our data and our workforce, and how ZT is completely complimentary to a threat-centric approach to security that we have been following for many years.
Vanessa Sulikowski, Distinguished Systems Engineer. Sales, Cisco. Hosted by Raymond Janse van Rensburg, Director Systems Engineering, Cisco

"Security risks increase the potential for disruption to control system uptime, safe operation, and a loss of intellectual property. Changes in Control and IT technologies, extended digital supply chains and evolving organisational structures are demanding security is not just a set of enforcement point solutions. Indeed security must be integrated end-to-end throughout IT and industrial network architectures to reduce cyber security and operations impact risks. This session examines the evolution of industrial network design from a security perspective, outlining leading network design patterns and Cisco technologies."

"Kevin Bloch, Chief Technology Officer, Cisco, Australia and New Zealand. Chris Turney, Professor of Earth Science and Climate Change, University of New South Wales. "
Including an interview with special guest speaker to discuss leveraging IoT to address climate change, global warming. Since 2010, Kevin has been presenting his predictions of the key technology trends that will impact our lives and businesses. 2019 is the fourth year of the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” - the era of connected intelligence and a year in which our relationships with technology and its impact on global society will come into even sharper focus. The session will cover the primary new technologies of this decade – Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud, mobile/5G, cyber security, blockchain, Web 3.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) – and explain how they are beginning to intersect and produce what is sometimes referred to as ‘combinatorial innovation’ - with software at the epicentre and connected intelligence the end result. Sometimes controversial but always well-researched, Kevin will provide his unique insights on the key trends of our time and why they are important. ~ There’s an old sailor’s expression: ‘Below 40 degrees south there is no law, below 50 degrees south there is no God.’ Occupying about 14% of the world’s surface, the Southern Ocean plays a fundamental role in global ocean and atmosphere circulation, carbon cycling and the stability of the Antarctic ice sheets. Unfortunately, the wind belts known as the ‘Roaring Forties’ and ‘Furious Fifties’ have prevented long-term, real-time monitoring. Working with Cisco and Titan Class, we are establishing a network of environmental monitoring stations on subantarctic islands that are scattered across the Southern Ocean, transmitting daily observations from one of the most remote and extreme environments on the planet. The new data will help plug a major hole in our understanding of how the planet works and how it might behave under future climate change.
