GITEX 2014 Overview
Cisco will showcase its world-class Smart and Connected Communities (S+CC) technology solutions, aligning with the Dubai Smart City goals, at GITEX Technology week 2014. Keeping with the umbrella theme of the Internet of Everything (IoE), Cisco will demonstrate Smart Cities technology solutions across the themes of Smart and Connected Communities; Smart Government; Smart Data Centre and Smart Hospitality.
Globally, Smart Cities are being fuelled by the IoE, which can lower costs, improve productivity, increase revenue and improve citizen benefits for the UAE's public and private sectors. Cisco predicts the IoE will create USD 19 trillion in value through initiatives such as smart buildings, smart gas and water monitoring, smart parking and smart waste management.
Our return to GITEX Technology Week, coupled with our focus around smart and connected communities, not only demonstrates Cisco's commitment to the Smart Dubai vision, but also to the UAE and the Middle East region as a whole. We are bringing together Cisco and our Partner experts to give you the opportunity to experience hands on demonstrations to show how we are shaping the future of the Internet.
The Cisco stand will be located at Z-B40, Za'abeel Gulfcomms Hall.

This year we will be showcasing our latest solutions through four different themes; Smart Cities, Smart Government, Smart Hospitality and Smart Data Centre. Listed below are several examples providing a small insight into the technology we will be demonstrating within each of our chosen themes.
Within the Smart City pod we will be showing how city wide sensors combined with Cisco Digital Signage, Industrial Switching/Routing, Cisco Wireless and Physical Security can detect and react to the changing environment with in a city 24 hours a day. Citizens will have access at their fingertips to actionable information to improve how they live their lives, learn, enjoy culture and art, and grow business.
Smart Parking: This demonstration will show how using low power wireless sensors Cisco Industrial routers can build city wide outdoor parking solutions that can integrate with multiple communication channels to reduce the time wasted searching for car parks.
Cisco Smart Public Safety: This demonstration will show how Cisco Physical Security Camera and Smart Analytics can provide city managers with advance capabilities like facial recognition, vehicle number plate recognition and object counting can allow city manager to respond faster to events with in the city. The demonstration will also highlight Cisco IPICS and how traditional disconnected first responder UHF/VHF radios can be integrated with cisco full collaboration suite to ensure all state holders can be involved in decision making process when responding to emergency with in the city.
Cisco IOX: Cisco IOX forms a part of Cisco SDN strategy and is the foundstone of fog computing. At Gitex, Cisco will be showing an example by running Linux on a Cisco router and integrating a pollution monitoring sensor into the router and running a custom application to aggregate the results and send to the analytics cloud. This data then can be used to create actionable events with in the NOC or directly to Citizen Devices.
Smart Data Centre
Within the Smart Data Centre Area, Cisco will be showcasing three segments; security, ACI and Servers.
Security: Learn how to detect, understand, and stop threats across the entire attack continuum before an attack happens, during the time it is in progress, and even after it begins to damage systems, and find out how you can take full advantage of the power, flexibility, and performance of new ACI data center environments without compromising functionality or security.
ACI Demo: This demo provides an introduction to the new Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) concepts. The demo is a walk-through of the Cisco APIC (Application Policy Infrastructure Controller) which provides centralized access to all fabric information, optimizes the application lifecycle for scale and performance, and supports flexible application provisioning across physical and virtual resources.
Cisco UCS Demo: This demonstration shows the ease of using the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) solution. It focuses on how Cisco UCS unifies computing, networking, management, virtualization, and storage access into a single integrated architecture.
Cisco UCS Invicta: The demo goes through the new Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) Invicta Appliance which delivers powerful, easy-to-manage application acceleration for data intensive workloads.
