Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2(8)T introduce la funcionalidad de router para iniciar el Intercambio de claves de Internet (IKE) en el modo agresivo. Antes, el router podía responder a una petición de la negociación de túnel en el modo agresivo, pero nunca podía iniciarla.

En el siguiente ejemplo de configuración, el RouterA y el RouterB tienen un túnel de LAN a LAN entre ellos. El Router A siempre será el router que inicia el túnel y en este ejemplo está configurado para iniciar en modo agresivo. El Router B solamente tiene una correspondencia de criptografía para aceptar los parámetros del túnel desde el Router A, a pesar de que también podría haber tenido una configuración de túnel LAN-a-LAN estándar aplicada.
Nota: En este ejemplo, el routerB no tiene que ser Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(8)T corriente para validar los parámetros del túnel del routerA. Como se mencionó antes, los routers siempre han aceptado un modo de consulta agresiva, sólo que nunca pudieron iniciarlo.
