Introducción
Este documento describe la configuración de un EtherChannel entre un switch Catalyst 5500/5000 que ejecuta Catalyst OS (CatOS) y un switch Catalyst 6500/6000 o Catalyst 4500/4000 que ejecuta Cisco IOS® Software. Un EtherChannel agrupa links individuales en un único link lógico que proporciona mayor ancho de banda y redundancia entre switches u otros dispositivos. EtherChannel puede aparecer como Fast EtherChannel (FEC) o Gigabit EtherChannel (GEC); depende de la velocidad de las interfaces o de los puertos que utilice para formar el EtherChannel. Esta configuración también se aplica a un switch Catalyst 4500/4000 o 6500/6000 Series que ejecuta CatOS y está conectado a un switch Catalyst 4500/4000 o 6500/6000 Series que ejecuta Cisco IOS Software.
La configuración de este documento agrupa dos puertos Fast Ethernet (FE) de cada uno de los switches en un FEC. Este documento utiliza el término "EtherChannel" para hacer referencia a GEC, FEC, canal de puerto, canal y grupo de puertos.

Teoría Precedente
Puede configurar EtherChannel incondicionalmente (con el modo de canal encendido) o mediante negociación automática. Cuando configura mediante negociación automática, el switch negocia el canal con el otro extremo. Para ello, utiliza el protocolo de agregación de puertos (PAgP) propietario de Cisco (con el comando channel mode desirable) o el protocolo de control agregado de enlaces (LACP) IEEE 802.3ad (con los comandos channel mode active o channel mode passive). En este documento, la configuración de EtherChannel utiliza PAgP para la negociación automática.
Todos los switches Catalyst que ejecutan el software del sistema CatOS admiten PAgP. Los switches Catalyst 6500/6000 o 4500/4000 Series que ejecutan Cisco IOS System Software también soportan PAgP. El modo recomendado para establecer un EtherChannel entre los dispositivos que soportan PAgP es el modo deseable. PAgP protege contra cualquier configuración incorrecta entre los dos dispositivos. Puede utilizar el modo de canal encendido cuando el dispositivo de conexión no soporta PAgP y necesita configurar el canal incondicionalmente. Puede utilizar las palabras clave silenciosas o no silenciosas con los modos de canal automático y deseable. Pautas
Cuando los links activos se agregan a un EtherChannel, los puertos dejan momentáneamente el Spanning Tree y se unen como un único puerto lógico. Hasta que el árbol de expansión vuelva a converger, el tráfico de red se verá afectado.
Si no utiliza protocolos como PAgP o LACP para la configuración de EtherChannel debido a otras consideraciones, asegúrese de que los parámetros requeridos sean los mismos en ambos extremos. Consideración especial sobre el uso de modo de canal incondicional
